Just holy crap.
That dog is amazing for the amount of self control it is showing.

Okay, I know dogs vocalize, but I don't think anyone can deny that the dog in the OP's video is PISSED. Compare it to THIS dog's body language - one of the related videos.

THAT is freaking adorable. Love how it moves into her when she stops patting.

I'm even more in love with rotties now I think.

I saw the blog post after I'd passed the video on, which had been passed along to me. I should check my RSS reader more often.

That woman is INSANE! Ugh. But nooo, these type of people are SO concerned to make their dog out to be a giant teddy bear that they will forget everything else. Of course he's purring, he would neeeeeever hurt a soul.

That dog should get a cookie. That was probably the longest ongoing canine warning I have ever seen.

Oh... and completely OT: this was a related video and it is so freaking adorable!

I couldn't stand to watch that video, it was horrifying. How could someone ignore such clear signals?? I was totally expected that to end in a bite.

What a good, good dog.

Wow, just wow.....

Okay, so I'm not trying to defend her, but my friends know a dog who is chemically imbalanced, and wags its tail when its angry, and growls when it is happy.

I don't think that is the case here though, the dog clearly LOOKS unhappy.

Yep. Total idiots.

A refreshing example of someone who's not an idiot - this looks like a "snarl" behavior that was shaped, and if it really was shaped from scratch, I applaud this trainer and I'm envious, because I can't even shape Eve into showing her teeth, much less pair a growl with it.

Edited to add this while I was looking at related videos - this is soooo sweet, so potentially dangerous but the dog is so very gentle with that baby's fingers when he takes the toy!

AAHHHH! So cute! It totally reminds me of the Good Dog Carl books. The baby even looks like the baby from the books.
Same! That's exactly what I sent to my mother, actually, with the video. My grandma and grandpa had all of the Good Dog Carl books in their house when I was younger, and I adored looking at them.

Wtf... that is SO scary... OMG. Listen to the noises she's making in his face! Who even hugs a dog like that and for that long? Creeper.

A Rottie came into the hotel, and he would rub against you and growl. He forced himself between my legs and just stood there growling. It was so freaky. We also found out he had a UTI and he had hip dysplasia that wasn't being treated properly. When we called the owner, he said he was "just talking". Ummm, growling, and snarling, and tense, and staring hard, is not just talking. It's clear warnings! I had a Rottie who never once growled at a person, and definitely didn't growl to "talk". I would never be cool with my dog growling at me.

I will admit that as a parent, I was annoyed that they were allowing the dog to mouth the child's toys. Those get expensive to replace, and isn't tolerated here.

It depends on the dog. Charlie and Kaia absolutely were/are forbidden from putting toys in their mouths because they can never resist a good nom. Strider never ever hurts the toy. He holds it, usually long enough to give it to her. When she was an infant and would cry in her bouncer, he used to run over and bounce it with his foot. If that didn't work he'd run all around the house gathering toys up for her and putting them on her lap. :rofl1:

Harry used to do that with his kongs and Nylabones. When she started to cry, he would gently place on on her (if he could reach her). I remember once she was upstairs in her crib and started to cry. Harry's ears perked up, he grabbed a bone and raced up the stairs on a mission.

Sadly, they are both destroyers, so we have to be careful with them and the toys. And once Syd became mobile, the nylabones had to become crate only toys.

While this rottie was clearly growing, "purring" IS something that a lot of rotties do. It's kind of a high-pitched growl that they do when happy. Here is an example:

YouTube - Purring dog

Notice that the dog's face is extremely relaxed, and that when the owner stops, he scoots up to her, so he clearly likes it :p

I don't get why she's cramming her fingers in his mouth. Is it in an attempt to prove he's not growling? Why would you cram your fingers in a dog's mouth like that anyway? o_O Don't get me wrong, I can pry Auggie's mouth open and remove stuff from his mouth, I get my fingers in his mouth to look at his teeth all the time - but I don't just pop them in like I expect the dog to SUCK on my finger which is what it looks like she's doing... WTF?

In rescue, I have been around many rotties. I have heard the "rottie purr" or "rottie rumble" as its sometimes called, like when I scratched this one dog's rear. This. is. not. it. That happy sound has a quite a different tone than an actual growl.

(And you know, Filas actually purr. I had the privilege of hearing Opie do it once. Nolu was there, she heard it too. )

But yeah, holy wow lady. Did you guys catch her reply to all the comments, calling everyone "dumbasses"?
