I am new here, and am not sure if this is the right place to post this... but I figured that the breeder section would be a good place to start.

I was talking to a breeder friend of mine that had an oops happen when one of her her females came into heat. She told me that there are two possible sires to the litter, and they are brothers. She is going to do a DNA test on the litter and both males. Will the test be able to distinguish the sires, since they are brothers?

Every dog's DNA is different. They will show similarities, being related as they are, but they won't be identical.

Thank you so much for your quick reply... I was also thinking that, but wanted to get more expert opinions.

They will likely have to do a more extended version of the regular test due to the closeness in relation of the 2 sires.

A Doberman breeder last year used dual sires, father and son. And the regular DNA test which looks at 30 some odd markers was inconclusive. They had to do further DNA testing looking at 70 odd markers, I think it was, in order to determine who sired who.
