If you lived closer I'd tell you to pack up the dogs and come over to my house. I wouldn't guarantee you'd get your dogs back, though. ;) :p

The idea of not having power right now is horrible. It's SO hot outside here, too. Hopefully they can get yours back up and running soon.
If I sent my dogs to your place, I'm sure I'd end up skipping class to play with your guys too. :lol-sign:

Anywhere close by you can grab some battery powered fans? I bought a big camping fan for Auggie when we were outside at an agility trial and at least the air movement helped a bit.

Otherwise, uh... swim party in the bathtub?

Oh man that really sucks. I'm glad that you figured it out and hopefully they will get it turned back on really soon. What stupid, stupid people.

Come on over, then :p

I have no ideas on how to cool the place down. Make sure you open your fridge/freezer the least amount of times as possible, so that your food won't go bad.

Hmmm... the three of you could always get in your car and drive around for a while. lol.

Scout is at your dad's house, right? I couldn't imagine having a chinchilla in this weather :yikes:

Yeah Scout's at my dad's thankfully. I'm guessing we may go just hang out at petsmart later lol. The last time I had no power (this seems to happen often) it was actually hotter inside than it was outside.

I'm almost out of batter power lol.

If you want to keep the heat out, darken the house. Pull down all the shades and close your windows. If you let the warm air in, it will make it worse. OR if it is breezy out, hang a wet/moist towel in your window. ;) Just let as little light as possible in!

sounds like a heck of a day! Hassles like that can really drag you down--at least you figured it out, and hopefully all will be well soon. I'm sure if you need a smile--you can count on Mia to do something!

Sorry Laurelin. That does sound like a craptastic day. If it's any consolation prize I got laid off today so take solace in your pain ending tomorrow. Sometimes you can call cooling centers to see if they allow pets.

Ow. Was it one of those kicked-in-the-gut, out-of-nowhere layoffs or one where they tell you they are going to be some layoffs so everyone gets to stress and be miserable and bust their butts trying to be indispensable in hopes of being one of the "lucky ones?"

It was they'd been dropping hints for about a month and they decided to confirm it today with no notice. So unemployed I am, and apparently because of the way they were running business I don't qualify for unemployment. wee.... my day is getting better by the moment.

I believe I'd be doing some looking into that. What could they have been doing that would make them exempt from unemployment insurance for their employees? Or disqualify you for it?

Definitely get a second opinion!

I'm sorry you had a shitty day too. That just really sucks. :(

I just finally got power back in my place at least. I ended up falling asleep for an hour and a half! I never take naps but it actually was pretty nice.

I'm glad things are looking up, though and you have your power back. :)
