The vet called out to some farm emergency early this morning so I have to take her to their clinic in a different town but only after his wife calls to tell me he's back. I've talked to her several times today and she knows that it's important and I need to see him today. So we're just waiting.

Sakari is alert but seems quite lethargic today. :(
Poor poor girl!!!!:( Give her a hug from me.

well i took her in and the vet has no clue he's keeping her this weekend. she's going to get iv fluids and blood work done. if nothing shows then she'll get x-rays. if nothing shows w that she's going to be referred to a specualist in the city which i hope hope hope doesn't happen. this is already costing me $500 and i don't know how to come up w more. sure adds up quickly

Thanks Jess. I'm sure she'll feel better after she gets some fluids into her. I had a cat once that was given a shot of b-vitamins when she went off her food and she was eating again within a few hours. I'm hoping something like that happens with sakari. He was also thinking that maybe a porcupine quill had gotten stuck somewhere and was causing her problems but he felt her all over and couldn't find anything wrong with her. I hope he can figure it out over the weekend!

My vet and his wife are pretty neat people though. Fiona got hungry while I was there so his wife set up a room for me in the back to feed her. She gave me water, juice, towels, kleenex and dimmed the lights lol. Pretty sweet.

They are caring. I think he's getting a bit hard of hearing because whenever I didn't face him to talk he seemed to crane forward to hear me which made me think he was reading my lips. Neat old guy.

I forgot to mention that his wife mentioned beaver fever (giardia?) when I was signing the paperwork. I think that's pretty easy to treat.

I hope your pup's ok, sounds an aweful lot like the symptoms Dante had when he had a intestinal block.
It would have to be really bad Giardia to cause symptoms that bad (Dante's had that too, it was a ROUGH first year with him!)

The vey just called & it's not good news. She's in kidney failure but he doesn't know what's causing it. He's had her on fluids since last night and says she is making pee which is good but she can't concentrate it which is bad. We decided to keep her on the fluids for a couple more days to try to fight it. He said i could call a specialist in the city for a kidney biopsy but that would put her at risk becuz she's getting so weak. He says basucally she's fighting a battle and it could go either way :(

He doens't have a clue what could have caused it. He says there are too many things. Poison is one. There's nothing she could have gotten into here but I do take her out off leash and she chews on/drinks quite a few things she finds along the way although nothing comes to mind that would have hurt her. :(

Swimming? She only wades and I don't think she has been in the last week. I took her to a lake before I had Fiona though.
