Sorry for the long post, I need to vent :(

After our walk yesterday I came home with Moro ready to scream about the stupidity of people!! I posted before about how there are a lot of chained dogs in my neighborhood... well yesterday, we walked by this house that had not one, but two pitbulls on a cable in the backyard! It looked as if they had 2 seperate cables which got tangled and the poor dogs couldn't move more than a few inches away from each other. I was on my way to knock on their door and tell them to untangle their dogs, when someone pulled into the driveway. I asked the guy in the car if they were his dogs, he said yes and I told him that they were all tangled up..he said he would go untangle them. So we went on our way...

Then, we passed another house we usually pass on our way to the park. This place has a fence with two very growly chow-chow type dogs who are always outside. One of the chows is a lot bigger than the other. Well for some reason, when we passed by today, the big chow decided to attack the smaller one. Not playfully. Moro and I both froze and turned around when we heard the smaller dog screaming. The big one had it by the throat and the smaller one was crying out. The big one put the smaller one to the ground and let go. The smaller chow just laid there. I thought it was dead... I walked closer to the fence and saw the smaller one raise its head weakly... the bigger one was snarling and jumping at us from the other side of the fence, so I couldn't really see if the smaller one was injured badly. This was the second time yesterday I felt compelled to knock on a stranger's door to tell them to take care of their **** dogs... I knocked but no one answered. I hope the smaller chow is okay though, I would hate to meet that big one if it ever got out of the fence!!

So after all that, we get to the park and there's this kid there, a boy probably about 12 years old. He saw Moro and came running up... Moro doesn't really like strangers, she isn't aggressive but she hides behind me when someone approaches that she doesn't know. The kid really wanted to pet Moro, I told him that she's pretty shy and I don't know if she'll let you touch her. I crouched by her and talked to her, told her "he's not gonna hurt you" and petted her. He started to slowly come closer with his hand out, but she still ran and hid behind me. So I said "Sorry, she's not gonna come to you". And this kid told me to hold her down by the harness so he could pet her! I was like "are you crazy" and told him that if I did that, she would probably bite him. I don't know if she really would have, but jeez, I wouldn't force my dog to be touched by someone if she doesn't want to!

what the hell is wrong with people :(

Sorry too hear about what you went through and seen, but please for the dogs sake call the animal control officers, or the spca. They need to be investigated

Sounds like you had one of those days :( And Moro too!

It is painful and frightening to see children - or adults for that matter - who believe that other creatures are here for the sole purpose of catering to their every whim.

I grew up in New York City. I would have told the kid to " Take a Powder" or the next thing he will feel is my foot in his butt..
