saje...it seems when i am the one ignoring him, he gets frustrated, but once someone else gives him attn, he forgets i exist, and is fine...i am going to ignore him more though...cuz once i read that...i realized i do acknowledge him a lot...i look at him all the time, and will rech down and pat him when he is just laying there, and sometimes whenever i pass him...when he is standing...but he usually doesnt like being pet then, and backs away
he is just so cute! its so hard not to look at him, lol

Doberluv, he does have to sit for just about everything..he now automatically sits whenever i have something in my hands that he wants...or when he wants to go outside, etc, he is sitting by the door. He has to sit and look at me in order for the doors (the main door AND screen door) to open...he has to sit and look at me at every street corner...so he is very good with that. He shakes and gives high fives, lays down and does stays for treats...or to go through a door in the kitchen (cuz the kitchen is his spot, so anywhere else is a special privelidge for him)

i can deal with the jumping up on counters (although it annoys the heck outta me sometimes, cuz he licks it...and it makes me nervous since who knows what was on it...) i can deal with his barking and whining, and his new favorite thing...howling...(telling me to hurry up in whatever i am doing...which i am now stopping whatever it is..such as getting his collar/leash ready for a walk...and turning my back on him)

I am just scared he is going to attack someone...and then, like you said doberluv, we will have to get rid of him :(

How old is he? It might just be the teenager annoying phase...

we arent positive when his bday was...but he was about 6 months when we got him, so we calculated his bday out to be 6 months from then...so he is almost a year old.

He had his 'episodes' from the beginning...he was always nippy, and when on walks, before we got the gentle leader or prong, would still turn back and nip when he was pulled back...which he had to be, since he was basically walking on his hind legs for 1/2 the walk since he was pulling so bad...

they have just been gradually getting worse now

omg, thank you...

we need something like that...

we are first time dog owners...and oakley prob wasnt the best dog for us, but we have grown waaay too attached to him to give up on him (i was having a serious talk with my bf about his behavior after he tried to bite my bf yesterday...and i was just bawling uncontrollably for like an hour when we were talking about the possibility that he is just not a safe dog for my family...and could lead to something bad..)

i am definately going to look into that

I hope it works out for you. Some people may be for it, and some people may be against it, but I think that in such a special situation as yours, you do what is best for you and your dog to get him under control and help him to learn better behavior. Everyone is different and every dog is different, so do what is best for the both of you.

We here at Chazhound do not condone animal abuse, thank you.

Dreeza, is Oakley neutered? Hormones can sometimes mess up a pup's head LOL. Definatly try to get your whole family to cooperate with you, and give the NILIF a try. Good luck Dreeza!

Seriously. Why would you even say that on a forum full of dog lovers, h2304? Are you just trying to instigate something here, because that is what it seems like.

dani12 - your pups are absolutely gorgeous. Such sweet faces.

Melissa - I guess it is better for us just to not respond anymore. Your pup is very pretty also. I love the colors of her fur.
