Okay . . . I had a really nasty, potentially dangerous little trick I used when I lived with a mean drunk.

I kept some Excedrin PM around and when he got too bad, I'd give him a couple and tell him it was to keep him from feeling too bad the next day

'Course, it made him sleep pretty soundly on top of all the alcohol, so a couple of times he laid there and pissed himself in his sleep, which was good for at least a month's worth of shame and not drinking - probably would have been more if I'd been the type to throw it up to him, but I never did
