My two girls have recently passed. I miss them so much. Greatest rodents ever. I wish to get another but I know the timing isn't right.

Anyone else share my love for these critters?

I have had rats for a whole seven years of my life.
they were rarely kept in cages. they went to the cage to poop and pee and spent most of the other time with me on the bed. they knew a few commands and were very intelligent. I loved my rats with all of my heart. Rats were heartbreaks for me. rats go GREAT to live 2.5 to 3 years, in seven years imagine how many rats passed through my life. some died old age, some with cancer ridden tumors, some with horrible respiratory problems.

a couple of years ago my i started have SEVER allergies. my nose would swell up and bleed. my eyes would itch and my skin would break out in hives. after loads of prescription medication and steroid shots my allergies to my rats gave me no break. so sadly i got my last two males neutered and gave them to my mother to put with her females. :(
not a day goes by that i dont think of my babies wish they were with me. i have had loads of pets and rats are by far the best.
i honestly even liked them better than dogs. my rats were the greatest. i even took them places with me. i had a purse i made for them and we would go to the mall, walmart, to the park... everywhere and they loved it:(

i remember even taking one to school with me one time. i snuck it in my purse and took it to lunch with me and gave him a french fry. he would stay in the biology room most of the time in a cage i brought him. i was so lucky to take him to school with me almost daily. he quickly became popular at my school and helped people see rats for what they are.

live long my little buddies :(

rats are too cool. :D

I wish our boys were more social, but they've been fun nonetheless.

They are a little over 3 years old now... :( that's pretty old for a rattie...

Me! me!

I miss my Korben a lot! But, just like you, the timing is very off.
I love rats! But for right now I have to settle for pet sitting, and contemplating "stealing" a couple from my friend. :lol-sign:

that litterly made me sick. how can you say that. a dog is a dog, a rat is a rat.
both have feelings, and emotion. both bleed red. that is very unsensitive of you to say and i am highly upset right now.

i think its best i just dont type any more before i get banned.
i am going to be sick.

I love ratties. :) Mine died in December and my mom is not budging when she says no more. :(

Awesome pets--they're definitely my favorite along with dogs.

I love ratties :) I used to run a rat rescue back in college and my love for them hasn't gone away. Unfortunately with my current living conditions I can't have any, but they are just the most intelligent and loving of creatures.

I never thought much about them one way or the other until I read Squidbert's posts about hers and saw her photos. Those were enough to convince me that ratties would be wonderful companions.

Still not sold on all that keen on the vicious barn rats though ;)

not to sound mean but its a RAT it is a hairy nibbling rodent sorry say that
To a rat lover that is a mean comment. I am not offended because it takes a lot more then that to offend me but like others have said. A dog is a dog to a lot of people. A rat is a rat to some. Don't say those sorts of things about other people's pet choice because I am sure you wouldn't enjoy someone saying that about your beloved pooch. Some people get upset about those sorts of comments.

So sorry for your loss.

Rats aren't my cup of tea, but I could never have one anyway. Queen Lillian would never leave it alone! :lol-sign:

I have rats myself, 4 girls 2 are blue one hairless and a dumbo. I love them all, they are so sweet, playful and funny! I would take a rat anyday over a gerbil or hamster (not that they aren't great, just preference)

My rats have NEVER bitten and they are very clean little critters thank you. You post an opinion like that on a rat thread, you wasnt trying to cause trouble was you?!

I got 2 bucks called Reggie & Ronnie, One is a champagne Hooded and the other is a siamese. They are both brother and roughly 6 months old and both cheeky little boys! I hope you dont mind me posting photos? (Let me know if you want me to remove them I dont want to hijack your thread)

YES they are, and thats why i love them,
i have a champagne male at one point named Loki, he would sit with me and groom me with that little nibble they do grazing their little teeth so tentitivly, so gently and gods forbid you touch the area they just spent 10 minutes cleaning, because then it starts all over...
you can just see that "ugh humans are dirty creatures" look on their faces lol

i have to say, my favorite ratt of all time was my gizmo girl. she was a black hooded, and possibly the smartest ratty. she could open her cage, id wake up with her curled up by my cheek fast asleep or nesteled in my hair or sometimes just looking at me as if to say, "come on im awake wheres my food"
but her best trick was essentially an eleaborate game of fetch.
I set up a doll house with a small peg doll on the top level, a toy fireengine, those wiht the extendable ladder going up to the top floor and an amublance that the doors opend at the bottom. you said "FIRE" and shed run up the ladder grab the doll bring it down the ladder put it in the ambulance, close the doors then puch it away...all for a cherio lol!

over the years ive had 4 males and 6 females. i miss them dearly. mabe oneday ill get more. id love a rex!
