... if Lincoln doesn't cut the crap he's pulling!!!!

We went to bed @ 1am last night... and the whining started. And the noises that accompanied the whining. And pawing at the crate. And Tsuki pacing in her crate because she wanted Lincoln to come visit her in her crate.

Tried spraying him with water, yea that never works. Threatened beatings, he liked the idea. So I figured I'm uncrate him and maybe he'll settle down and goto sleep. Nope. Lets goto Tsuki's crate and try to get her out, or go into Kiba's crate and waggle paws at Tsuki, then pull out all of Kiba's bedding and play with it, and then go into their cat tent thing and swirl around it like a whirling dervish, or how about trying to dig to China in all 3 of the dog beds. Not excluded he kept on whining... and would run around crazily the whole time.

Around 5am it stopped, after being worken up every 30 minutes with the above list. I think this is why people breed.... so it'll shut up the males!!!! :rofl1: Anyone want "My Happy Hi Hi Let's Go" Lincoln, or Tsuki McTrampypants?

No. I tried putting him out in the hallway but that didn't work, he can't whining, yipping, and howling. He's even started barking when put outside without his Tsuki McTrampypants... and Lincoln never barks (except when crated and hasn't had his meds).

Ahh, the joys of intact dogs. For some sleep you probably will need to crate him in the garage or something for the next few nights. You can try rubbing a little vick's vapo-rub on his nose to mask the scent. It *might* work, but this is usually only used at dog shows to keep the males from going nuts over females when they need to be showing. I doubt it would work when he is living with an in-season bitch.

No amount of spraying with water etc will shut up a horny male dog.

Good luck!

When Cleo is in heat it is unbearable around her. The whining drives us nuts! We have to put Brutus out in the shop.
Then he barks and barks and barks.....He jumped through the window, so hubby had to board the two windows up to keep him from doing again. I also had to take him to the vet for several small cuts near his eyes and a large one on his front leg. Blood was pouring everywhere. The vet had to put a few stitches in it. Now, he occasionally has a limp on that leg.

I do not want anymore unspayed females. Cleo is getting spayed as soon as I can have it done.

Glad my crew isn't like that o_O Dash gets a bit whiney but the girls are quiet. (ok so Dekka would stand in front of Dash's crate and entice him when I wasn't watching.. but that was also quiet)

Dekka still wanted to sleep in bed (with panties) and not bug the boys at night. Kaiden only is interested when they are in standing heat, and is still quiet when crated.

So not ALL dogs are like that when intact. But I have to say the first round of heat (for a boy to exp or a girl to go through) seems to be the worst and you have two newbies at the same time.

I don't suppose getting him pooped right out before bed time might calm his urges? At least maybe he'd be too tired :p I've never dealt with intact critters really so I don't know if his drive will overcome his pooped-ness, lol.

Earplugs all the way, one of my kittens is in heat (spay in March I think...finances, you know) and I'm stopping to get some pluggers right away, she drove me nuts last night. I fell asleep with my finger jammed in my ear, no joke :p

Sure does give me a new level of respect for breeders. ;)
OH yeah! I don't think that I would be able to stand it. Before my husband and I got Delilah we were looking at beagles, and the one breeder told us that her male got his jaw caught in his crate trying to get out to get to the female.:yikes:

Not for me.

I suggest ear plugs as well. Good luck, and I hope your able to get some sleep.

I have found the more experienced stud dogs are easier. They only act naughty when the girls are in standing heat. You just got lucky with Dash. :)

Some boys don't seem to be phased, but its usually the young or inexperienced males that are the worst.

I've never had a problem with a bitch when she was in heat. They'd pretty much still ignore the boys.

Tyr is the first dog to really act up when I've had a bitch in heat, and really he's only bad if he's out of his crate. In his crate, he's quiet. Out of his crate, he gets restless and wants nothing more than to try to get to her. If I work obedience though, he's fine and can even do doodling exercises right next to the girl's crate but otherwise his brains pretty much disappear.

When a bitch is in heat, Tyr absolutely cannot sleep on my bed...he won't sleep at all...he'll spend the night pacing the room and camped out at the bedroom door, but in his crate he sleeps quietly, but he'll wake me up when she wakes up .

I have found that a sleep aid (I use Lunesta) helps me fall asleep and makes it easier to ignore disturbances. And fall right back asleep. So maybe that combined with ear plugs?
