Never made one before.. lol. My husband cut out a wood frame, then I used branches, holly, a little cedar, and pine cones from the yard. Since the house is older and made of stone, I wanted to keep it simple. However with the size of the stone, and how wide the house is, sure did use alot of make it match.. lol.
Here is what each looks like,

And here is the set of them

Oh we love this old stone house. We were trying to keep our decorations with the period of the house. It would not look right with a bunch of contempory lights on a older stone house.

Oh wow! That sounds cool! Wish I had known that as we have some grape vines out back. I will remember that next year. After the season is over we can just remove the greenery and keep the wood frames for next year.

Thats what I did . I'd decorated them with the seasons .
Wow- thank you for the tip! The stones are mammoth. At first I was worried the wreaths would look funny against the stone, but it added texture.
Here is a reminder what the house looks like normally.

Contemporary would definitely clash horribly. The natural stone and old-style "sittin' porch" screams "OLD FASHIONED".

I'd say go with an Edwardian-period theme for Christmas decorations. Very nice wreaths BTW.

Oh I love simple thin wreaths against stone. It's one of my favorite Christmas texture combinations. Beautiful work!

This is pretty wide but dwarfs against the stone so thank you for the compliment. It was a big discussion to figure out the width. ( 4inch frame)
