All my life I wanted to own a dog...finally, after raising two human sons, I decided I was ready for two dogs. I did quite a bit of research on small breeds.. and decided on the Shih Tzu. They are perfect for me, since they are lap dogs, don't require a lot of exercize, just a lot of love and lots of GROOMING!! After having Lina and Giotto in my life, since they were 10 weeks old, now almost 8 months, I have come to appreciate the commitment it takes to be a good owner. They are truly my "babies":p

A-w-w-w...do you have any pictures you could post? I like Shih Tzus too. The ones I've met were real cuties. And they were fairly calm...kind of a nice attribute in a toy breed. Congrats on your new pups.

shih tzus

Yeah I have 2 Shih Tzu's as well. Truman and Sophie. I feel the same way. They really make fine pets. They are my moms dogs and even though I like them a lot I really am not fond of their looks (being a guy). So I will get a different breed. Likely the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Just not as girly looking. I mean they are a little bit but not so much.

My son who is 25 years old is consired by many to be a "stud" 6'5", body builder, competes in some of the most elite "fit" competitions totally thinks "his" ( my 2 shih tzus ) dogs are the best looking and well mannered dogs he has ever encountered. Hey, afterall men have more hair than women!;)

No, I would never let their hair grow full lenght. My dogs don't tolerate bows, although I wouldn't mind having Lina ( the girl ) wear one just once. The picture of her wearing a bandana was taken the day of their grooming. She removed her bandana just moments after I took that picture. They are very active... would rather be dirty all the time.:D I just keep cleaning and brushing them. Shih Tzus required a lot of GROOMING!

Oh yeah tell me about it. My yorkie requires lots of attention with his hair and his hair is really straight. I have to brush out the mats. I hate it but I'll do it for my baby

My friend has a shih tzu, and he looks similar, except she's keeping his hair short for some reason...Hmm..

Yeah they're great little dogs. Strange you say lap dog, yet hers is always loaded full of energy, always will to play. She loves to run. Maybe her shih tzu has been reverse engineered. Heheheh....I'll have to ask her that...

Anyway, they look very cute. I love the picture, "Being bored"... So cute.

I just gave both my pups a very short cut for the summer. Couldn't stand the panting and the brushing. They seem happier with less hair ( at least for the summer. ) In the Fall, I will let their hair grow back. I'm so glad not have to brush them every day!

I said "lap dogs" because when I pet them, they "fit" in my lap. They too are very energetic dogs...getting into all sorts of things. have to watch them constantly. I thought they would keep each other company, well, they would much rather be in my presence than each other. Go figure!
