Norris got loose this morning around 11. I was taking him outside for his morning pee and he got scared by something and pulled HARD and slipped his collar and ran away. I have alerted the area shelters (that are open, City of Manassas is closed on Sundays), left info with the local police, put up a lot of flyers, but we haven't had any luck. We haven't seen him at ALL. Manassas is labyrinthine, there are so many streets crossing and crissing that he could have gone down. My mom, my sister, one of my friends and I spent a while driving around. I walked for a bit too. I just don't know where to look anymore.

I just want my dog back.

My camera is still on the fritz so besides grainy cell phone pics, these two are the best pictures I have, they are from when he was still at FOHA.

Since I can't go look for him right now one of my friends is going to look for him. She does rescue stuff a lot and I just texted her the pics of him. Jeff is texting her the cross streets around where you live.

Most dogs I have seen have been found within a mile of their house so keep up the searching. I hope you find him!

Oh gosh, how scary! :( :( :( If I make a facebook post about it, what do you want it to say? Is there a phone # they should call if they see him? I'm guessing he's scared and not going to appreciate people approaching him.

We drove around everywhere. I'm wondering if he just ran and didn't stop. :(

If he is approached, especially by men, he will run away. I will PM you about my number.

I'm so sorry! I think I've read that when searching for a lost dog, consider the search area to be at least a circle of five miles from ground zero. (Cats are supposed to be about a mile).

When our spooky, timid cat got out of the house, we literally saturated the area with flyers. Put a flyer on every mailbox (but not IN the mailbox, that's illegal - tucked it between the flag and the mailbox). It did yield results and people began calling to say they'd seen her. It took six weeks of tracking her path to get her home.

I hope you find him soon, safe and sound!

Oh no! I hope he's hone safe and sound very soon!

FWIW all the lost dogs (and one lost ferret) were found through flyers hung at or sent to non- pet related places. I would definitely hang flyers an where that will let you, around your local area first then further and further out. Send hem to police stations, give them to mail carriers and newspaper deleivery people. Try to get people to help you hang flyers vs. help you walk streets searching. The flyers should read REWARD very large because "lost" may only appeal to pet lovers. It's hard to not want to keep searching but the expert advice seems to be that flyers are more effective after the first couple of hours and that seems to hold true with the lost dogs I've known.

I know how awful that feeling is! Hope you find him soon!

The only reason we got my husky back years ago was the paper add we ran. Some news stations and t. Stations will also run them. People that had her were going to keep her and neighbor saw newspaper add(but not 8,000 signs I had up lol!) and called us. It was still over a week later we heard anything. I think she was well over five miles but think they picked her up to.

It's tough here because we are near three county lines. That's. lot of posters and areas to cover. That was two papers and many different towns people shop in around here so it was tough.

Sending good thoughts!!

Checking in as well hoping for good news. You both will be in my prayers.
We have something here called Lost Dog Registry. I don't know if you do or not but I have found one lost dog that way many years ago. I don't think there is any worse feeling in the world that losing someone you love. (((((((HUGS and HUGS)))))))

I haven't heard if Cristy has found him yet or not. I will call her in a little bit if she hasn't checked in. I really hate that I'm stuck going to work all day today because we live in the same area and I want to go drive around and look for him.
