I went to Wal-Mart this morning. There was a truck parked near my car, and there was a boxer in the bed of the truck. Pretty common sight, but as I walked by the truck on my way into the store, I noticed that the poor dog looked horrible. He was dirty, one eye was extremely red and puffy-looking, and he was extremely skinny. I could see his ribs, his backbone and his hips clearly.
I had my cell phone, so I went in the store, found a phone book and called animal control. I told them where the truck was parked, the condition/sex/color of the dog, and the vehicle's license plate. When I left the store awhile later, I saw two animal control officers by the truck, looking over the poor boxer.
I'm glad I called. I hope they were able to do something to help that sad dog. What disgusted me the most is that the truck looked brand-new. The owners could afford a truck, but not dog food. Sad.
