I not trying to be funny, or joke around. I am dead serious. Mark has been steadily ignoring her more and more. He hasn't been working with her and obedience, forgetting to feed her, not taking her outside for pottying or walks. I keep reminding him but he's not a little kid and he needs to do this stuff without me telling him to. Tonight when he came home from work he completely ignored her, instead of letting her outside like he's suppose to. He isn't have a bad day just didn't want to deal with her. Well I got really mad and told him he had to have her so bad and now he won't take care of her so I am taking her away from him. She is now my dog and that's it he has lost his chance to be Holly's owner. He doesn't seem too heartbroken over it:mad: . I'm just sick of her getting ignored by him and when I go to do something with her he tells me not too because it's his dog and he wants to do it. Well now she isn't his dog, she's my dog. Ofcourse they still live in the same house but he has no ability to make decisions about her or tell me what she can or can not do, same as with Hannah. She's my 30 lb lap puppy now:lol-sign: (Literally because she's laying in my lap as I type).

Hey, good for you! This is what happens when kids (not meaing yours) ask for animals. They don't realize the HUGE responsibility, and the family gives up the dog because nobody wants to care for it.

I'm SO glad to see that you are stepping in, and doing what needs to be done, and you are caring for that dog.
HIGH FIVE! :D Congrats, nice job :)

Thanks, except Mark's my husband not a kid (although sometimes he seems like he's a child). He wanted Holly SO BAD because I had a dog of my own. Promised to take care of her, I told him to research and be sure for 2 years and he didn't and had to have this puppy. I knew this would happen but oh well. I lived and learned and now I know he can't be responsible. A 30 year old man CAN'T be responsible that's some major crap right there!

And as a 32 year old male myself, you are suprised 30+ year old men arent responsible? We dont get responsible until 40 at least.

*edit* My own father was 44 before he became responsible.

Reading the original post I was going to write about how as a kid I begged like no other for a dog.. leaving notes around the house and all. To find when I grew up some, that a dog was more work than I ever dreamed, and I never knew what I needed to. My dog 'dropped' into my lap when my roomate decided she had to impulse buy one, and 4 months later then dump her.. Best learning experience I could have had, but the beginning was hell..

Being your husband though I have to laugh.. My last boyfriend was 29. Sure was a 5 year old stuck in a man's body. :D

Can I kick him? I realize I dont have a family or kids as well as my dogs but can I kick him?
Go right ahead because I near about did tonight.

Oh he's usually plenty responsible enough but for some reason has just gone stupid lately. Poor Holly was taking the brunt of it too and when she tried to be by him and he pushed her away tonight that did it in for me and I let him have it.

Ugh, that's annoying. Maybe he'll step up and start taking care of her again. We can hope, right?
He will start taking care of her agian, I know he will. But he's one of those guys that will start taking care of her agian really good, get my faith instilled back into him and then stop taking care of her agian.

Oh, dear! :yikes: I didn't realize he was 30! LOL, that's kind of sad.

Well, Holly looks better with you anyway :) I love Berneses.

My daughter just had her pets taken away but she's only 5! I released all her snails last night because she forgot to clean out their tank - again! I told her I'd let them go but I'm sure she didn't believe me.

Maybe you should get Mark a goldfish or a hamster and when he proves that he is capable of taking on that responsibility, you can let him have Holly back? :)

my mama once made me go a length of time without a drink because i forgot to water my rats. I don't remember how old i was, not very that is for sure. The thing is it was a lesson that stuck with me for life. A grown man has no excuses tho, that is just rediculous.

We do have fish. The piranhas are SUPPOSE to be his but ofcourse he stopped taking care of them awhile back. Also hamsters scare me for some reason so if he stopped taking care of it I would be too scared too. I don't know why they scare me I used to have all those kinds of rodents and stuff as a kid. I think he'll step up and take responsibility for her agian though after I explained to him how much she needs him. She loves her daddy and he needs to realize that and start appreciating her for the sweet little puppy she is.

New here so I don't know that my opinion counts much, but I wouldn't let him start taking care of her again...especially if you think he'll grow tired of her again. That's too confusing for a dog. I think she's better off sticking with you as a consitent care giver.
And hamsters kinda un-nerve me too :)

Maybe that is why i don't live with one. I always wondered what the reason really was. I would hate to think of a man as incapable of loving a dog enough to take care of the dog's needs. That is just so "unmanly". That is the behavior of a child.
