I’m happy to announce that sometime in April we will have a new little lab running around our house! Chevy’s breeder contacted us yesterday and said she has confirmed a litter out of Chevy’s dad and Chevy’s mom’s sister and asking if we wanted pick of the litter. I have mixed emotions, knowing that I will never get another Chevy but I also feel like I am more than ready to bring another dog into our house. I still miss Chevy terribly but I definatly have room in my heart for another little pup. So now the coundown begins...

Congratulations! That is so exciting for you! As much as it is painful to think about a new pup, when you get them you know your old dog is smiling down on you and is happy you are moving on as a dog owner (or dog parent!) .

I'm so happy for you. Even though you may never have another Chevy, this pup will bring you much happiness. It's said that a dog comes into our lives for a reason and at the right time; maybe this is Chevy sending you her love with a pup from the same lines.

Thank you all so much, the more I think about it the more excited I get. Chevy's breeder is awesome and she understood what Chevy meant to us. Luckily she only lives a 1/2 hour away from us so we will get to visit the litter several times before one gets to come home with us.

Oh I'm so excited for you!!

Do keep us updated!

(PS: how is Virgo doing? :) )
:) I haven't seen Virgo since Christmas but last time I talked with her owner about her she was doing really well. Nothing out of the ordinary, just Virgo being herself....stealing beef jerky, grabbing an entire batch of muffins from the top shelf in the bunk and opening the container before eating them all and eating a seatbelt are her latest accomplishments. Lucky he has a sense of humour and takes it all in stride.

Oh boy you get to visit too! Dies...I am so jealous. Fat sweet lab puppy, nothing sweeter.

Virgo shame on you! Maybe some bitter apple spray for those expensive seat belts.

Lucky you to be able to see the litter so often! The new pup might not be a Chevy clone, but she/he is sure going to be special!

Lordy, what is it with that dog and seatbelts?!  I still haven't replaced three of the four she chewed up the other summer, but I don't even have my backseats in right now, so it's not a huge deal, but sheesh!

Congrats on your soon-to-be new Lab puppy!! :D

I completely understand your feelings regarding Chevy ... I felt the same way about Cheyenne, my Golden who passed away at 15 yrs. old. There will never be another one like her, and for a while we didn't know if we could love another Golden as much ... also there was a feeling that it would almost be like some kind of disloyalty thing to get another Golden.

But eventually you realize ... once all that's left of your "heart" dog is all the love she gave ... the best tribute you can give her is to give that some of that love away, to another dog of your favorite breed.

Good luck with your new Lab!! Chevy will be smiling down upon you. :)
