I work at the animal shelter on Saturdays, and there is this guy that comes in every few months to drop off 8 week old purebred boxer puppies. He breeds them and, for the past few litters, they haven't been selling. So, instead of doing the logical thing and fixing the mother, he just keeps bringing us back puppies. Boxers aren't well liked here, and every one of the puppies he has brought us, we've had to put to sleep because no one wanted them, and they would stay here for weeks and weeks. He recently brought the mother in, saying that we could kill her because she wasn't making puppies pretty enough to sell. She was also put to sleep. Gawd, I hate backyard breeders =(.

I know it's too late, but where are you? Isn't there a boxer rescue that could've helped?

What a *******. You know he's already gone and bought another dog he can breed until she's "used up" too.

See you in hell, scumbag.

Where is it that you live? People are always talking about all these purebred dogs in pounds. Where I live the pounds are full of mixed breeds. very rarely do you ever see a purebred let alone a purebred puppy. And when the rare one does come in it has like 10 holds on it the first day it comes in. Why didn't your shelter contact a breed rescue? I am sure a Boxer rescue would have loved to have taken in purebred pups.

There were all filled to the brim =(. It's hard working at the shelter that has the second-highest euthanasia rate in the United States. We have so many irresponsible and stupid people down here in Missisippi, it is unreal. I wish I had more room in my home for other dogs, but I just got Maggie, and I know it would be selfish of me. But it is so hard.

That's horrible! Does he make any attempt to sell them beforehand? Or doesn't he click that if people don't buy them in January they won't buy them in July either.
That's really sad, poor little pups, and the mum too.

How incredibly sad and unfortunate. I'll never understand where that type of mentality and lack of responsibility comes from...

Oh my God. :(

That's horrible. Just horrible. How can people be so callous and cruel? I'm sorry you have to handle the messes created by people like that. :(

people are so ignorant.

we see a *lot* of bybers at the vet clinic where i work. we had a litter of lab pups in for exam and the woman was saying how she hoped they'd be able to sell these because they had a hard time getting rid of the last litter. the vet, god bless her, said "did you think about not breeding them then?" but the owner didn't reply.

Why, oh why, do people think it's ok to breed more pets in such an already over populated world/
