I got to play with puppies on Saturday!

We will be bringing home our new Vizsla puppy in 3 weeks! This past Saturday we were within an hours drive of the breeder so we stopped in to visit the puppies for the first time. They are 5 weeks old and so stinkin' cute! We stayed for 2 hours and it was hard to leave them. We don't know exactly which one is ours yet but it will either be Light Pink Girl or Hot Pink Girl.

Have you chosen a name?

Well, we have a list of about 30 possibilities right now but the front runner is Ember. She is reddish in color and our family camps a lot so that covers both themes. And it's not a name that is very common. I also really like Penny and Ruby but I have seen several Vizsla's with those names. We are going to wait until she comes home to make the final decision and see what name fits her.

How did you come up with Slades name? I LOVE that name! Of course, that could be the '80's metal head coming out in me!

Hahaha! I didn't even know about the band until after he was named, but now I get it ALL the time. Either that or people assume it's "Slate" because of his colour. *facepalm*

When I was debating names, I pretty much just jotted down every single name I found or randomly heard that I liked, and started narrowing it down. I always thought I would name my first male dog Luca, but that didn't happen. My first one ended up being Trent, and though I still liked Luca when I was waiting for Slade, I didn't like it quite as much. The first time I ever heard the name Slade actually, was a character on the reality TV show "The Real Housewives of Orange County". *blushes*

As far as names for a girl go, I like Ember. I like that it's unique, because I don't generally like overly common names. I also really like Quinn, and I feel it would really suit a female Vizsla for some reason!

Yeah, I prefer less common names also. I hadn't thought of Quinn but I like it! I will add it to my list!
