Sarah, don't feel bad! You've added another member to your family and that should always be a joyous occasion!

I think everyone who's posted concerns just wants you to be sure you're prepared for anything that might crop up, and are best prepared for preventing problems FROM arising.

Her front feet do not look good though. TBH I can't stand the way most shepherds are bred these days, and their feet ALWAYS look funny to me, so I may not be the best judge.

Edit to add: And hey, look at Sierra's front feet will you?! lol She's a mix, so it's different, but they're pretty hilarious when you get a good look at them.

It could very well be puppy feet. She could still have some growing to do and maybe that part of her will grow in correctly or fill out right...or something.

But don't take our word for it. I'd take her to the vet and have the vet take a look and ask the vet for their medical opinion on it.

Yall make me feel like I picked out a HORRIBLE dog.. :( and im just going to have problems with her for the rest of her life!
I see what yall are saying about the kids. Good point. Will watch out from now on..
Sarah, we don't want you to feel like you 'picked a horrible dog'

We would like you to use caution and good sense while integrating this girl into your home. For her sake and the sake of your current household.

Regardless if she has issues with her feet or not she could be the most wonderful dog in the universe, that isn't a reason to get rid of her............you just need to know if she does so you can provide the best care/environment for her from now on.

She really does have a pretty face and lovely ears. She looks to be happy as her smile is also lovely :)

I figured some of that was the angle. Summer's feet look really wonky in some pics of her and it just has to do with the angle.

If you're worried I'd go get them x-rayed to be safe. You at least want to know if there could be some problems in the future. Best to play it safe.

ETA: I see the new pics, and I'd have to say that doesn't look right nor does it look like it was just that picture. I'd go get it checked out. Just my opinion.

ETA 2: Don't feel bad! That's not my intention at all. I hope I didn't come off that way. :(

She's very down on her pasterns - something I've seen before in GSDs, and it gives me the willies whenever I see it.

Oooh yeah, she most certainly is :(. She the front feet in the picture below? That's what the front pasterns aresupposed to look like, nice and straight.

You mean her funny feet right?
Is it something that will effect them bad? Or is it just weird looking?

My dog Annabelle's feet are like that, too. I never even noticed until I got her clipped for the first time yesterday. She's always had a long coat (like in my sig pic..see how you can't really even see her feet). The vet has also never said anything, but now I can see that they are not right and also her butt is much higher than her front. Again, not very noticeable with her long coat, but very apparent with the short clip. :(

Look how bad this is

She doesn't look quite THAT bad in person (as far as the height difference in her body), but, man, she looks pretty terrible

I guess I should have noticed, cause now I can tell in this pic:
But with the fur that was sooo long past her nails and feet, it always looked like fur to me--not her foot

I'm going to be 100% honest here, because anything else won't let me sleep tonight.

I'm glad you're happy you got your GSD and that she seems to be listening to you so far. However, I have serious misgivings about this whole situation and about the honesty of the guy who gave you the dog in the first place. Something about giving a "protection trained" dog to a young person who has no idea what they're in for sits wrong with me. I have to say my first impression is that this is a poorly bred GSD with snappy nerves and the guy was looking to unload her...those feet aren't just huge, they're "wrong".

And please, please, PLEASE DO NOT set your baby down on the ground in between two dogs who don't know each other! I want this to turn out well for you and I really REALLY don't want to log in one day and hear that your baby had to go to the hospital and the two dogs to the vet because of something like that.

Enroll in an obedience class immediatly. Not for the dog, for you. You have to know how to handle what you've set yourself up for.

Best of luck.
I second this post 100%.

Also, exactly what SizzleDog said..... her feet give me the willies. They almost look painful. She isn't limping, is she, or favoring her feet? Please follow the advice in that article, and get some x-rays asap.

Pam=:yikes: that can't be comfortable!!
She has never walked weird or anything. I don't understand. She plays, jumps, run, walks perfectly normally. The vet only ever mentioned that she has slightly luxating patellas in the back (not bad enough to require surgery) but never, ever talked about her feet. I feel so bad for not noticing, but I could never SEE her feet

I didn't notice that with Anna's long fur, either. :(

My GS, Brix, has some problems with his rear legs. He has a form of MS, which messes up the muscles in his legs. I can tell he's in pain when he walks and run sometimes. :(

Your veterinarian may encourage you to euthanise the puppy
WHAT!?! Thats weird!! I thought they would be ok!

But about what it says about the diet. The guy said some weird brand name. He said it has no corn because he doesnt believe in feeding a dog some corn. Can yall name some higher end brands and maybe I will remember it so I can check it out..
