Nylabone

Can you get the Nylabone in a pet store or do I have to order it? We have PetCo and PetSmart close by. Thanks!

OH- and I tried the BoingaBall. Destroyed in under 10 minutes. Thank God I have a good vacuum cleaner.

My guys ate the legs off thier cuz.... and then proceeded to kill the cuz... how you ask... you dont know Spider. LOL

I have to supervise all toys, my guys are killers. I have probably gone thru $400 worth of toys in Spider's life time.

It's gotten to be kind of a joke. Every time I bring home a new "indestructible" toy, my husband just laughs and looks at his watch to time it. He thinks I should just give Zoe $10 dollar bills to chew on.

Herschel- no- they probably would want me to send the old one which is long gone. Plus, they'd just sent me a new one--which she'd promptly destroy!

The Tuffie's are a joke in this household also.

I don't get it, why buy a toy that will get destroyed so quickly? Sure, they will replace it for one time :)rolleyes:) but that doesn't do me a lot of good. I want a toy that will last at least a few days in this house.. have yet to find one.

The only toys I have that have lasted more than a couple months have been the kongs, the holee rollers, the Orbee balls (the bones get ripped up eventually), and the rubber squeek toys like jolly balls, cuz, ruffians, etc.

My dogs like the tuffies. They eventually do rip them up, but they're PLUSH toys. What do you expect? My dogs absolutely adore plushies but can't have them since they go th rough them so fast, so the tuffies are a nice compromise. They last about a month with gentle play, but Dakota can demolish one in a couple hours if he sets his mind to it.

My favorite toys are the fleece tugs. I just go to a fabric store, buy a few yards of fleece, cut it into strips and braid it. The dogs LOVE it (they play tug with me as well as each other) and it's not very expensive. If I leave them alone with it and they rip it up, I've only lost like $1.

Toys don't last here long , either. Only I don't have the heart to take away the ones that look they came from boot camp (though I take out any squeakers or stuffing that can be swallowed of course) because they get so attached to the ones they've had a while!
Jessie, if you're reading this, Lucy LOVES her monkey and takes it everywhere. It is so adorable! It's a scruffy little thing now but she adores it. :D She does a weird "sucking" ritual to it that's not quite chewing sometimes. :p

How about cleaning up a raw beef bone i.e making sure all the meat and everything else is off it and giving that to your dog to chew on.

it should last for ages and it will be great for her health

Cheers

Scooter, cooked bones are dangerous. I give Tosca raw meaty bones all the time.

I think maybe the best thing for you to do is give it up and let the dog have your furniture. just kidding.

Yes, the cooking process is what makes bones really dangerous, they splinter and can harm a dog. But raw bones are actually quite good for dogs, and many Chazzers give their dog raw bones as a treat, and some give them a diet competely of raw meat, organs, and bones.
I'm looking to get RMBs (the term you will see around here for "raw meaty bones") for my dogs. :)

Thanks! I'll try a raw meaty bone. By the way, I took a leap of faith and bought a toy made out of firehose material. Within ten minutes I was getting out the vacuum cleaner. *sigh*

You probably don't want them chewing on raw weightbearing bones too much as they can chip a tooth.

I've had some luck with the big kahuna toys. They do get destroyed but it takes some time.

Scooter, do some searches in the food sections and raw bones to learn what's good and what's not, how much, etc. etc. Just some tips to make you a bit more comfortable. :)
