What are they currently eating? My boy had nasty tummy issues for 6 months until I switched him to a grain inclusive food - he just has a system that needs the extra fiber/carbs or something! Once the food switch was complete he was totally fine. (My boy eats Kirkland, which is very close to the Diamond line)

This is our second vet. I think that it's better to stay the course with one so we can look hard at what worked for at least a while and what did not. Whatever they gave him this time, did not. He's not worse, but he's certainly not well. What they gave him last time really helped, but it came back. So maybe a longer course of that. The first vet handles such a mass load, I did nto feel she had time for a chronic issue. At least I got the kaopectact however you spell it probiotic down him this morning. The antibotic is in a syringe and easy peasy, but this stuff is a paste and he wants none of it. Even if they said it was yummy, he says it is not. I do not want him to have surgery and the vet agreed until this is resolved. I am going to finisht his course, it's his last dose today and go back on Monday.

On a good news note, he enjoyed a visit with his sponsor Great Grandmother for Thanksgiving yesterday and had a nice truck ride back.

He is eating wellness grainfree kitten food when he is not eating the i d canned food the vet gave him. Right now it is the vet food.

Do you remember what they were giving him that helped? Was it metronidazole? If so, that's not unusual at all - metro is many vets' go to drug for tummy upsets, but in some cases it just treats the symptoms, not the underlying cause.

Also, kaopectate is not a probiotic - it's a stomach soother iirc. That being said, any probiotics should be given 2+ hours before or after any antibiotics to offer the max effectiveness.

he is taking Pro Pectalin Anti Diarrhea (the paste)
Ponazuril 90 mg
and he had a fecal check that came up 0
that is this trip.

last time a fecal was done, came back nothing, and he was given Panacur suspension I thought that had us home free, but it came back.

before that shelter wormed him with 2 different worm stuff..and the albon which helped as long s he was taking it, but it came back.

HE bloats, and there is fresh blood, not a lot, but some. And the smell is horrid.

Thank you for helping us try to figure this out. I can't begin to put into words how much I appreciate being put on the right track with Neccy. Chazhound imo at it's best when we put our minds and experiences together to find solutions.

Man, that has to be so frustrating! Certainly sounds like an in depth discussion with the vet is in order since he was ok while on a few of the drugs, but now you've tried so many others it might be easy to miss mentioning some of the details.

Maybe what they used last time, longer. All I know is we will be back we will go until we do find the answer. :(

He's only 4 months old.

He is not as bloated on this med. Today was his last dose, so he is playing some, and there is nothing whatsoever wrong with his appetite. Before this round tho he was gettng sick fast and you could see he didnt' feel good at all.

I think there is a visual on the culprit. Will be taking it in.

I swear he is living breathing art. This is so worth watching the sun come up together which seems to be our morning thing to do.

The rest of the day just doesnt' compare to this first hour. THe light is so wonderful.

Yes I did. Not a round, looks too big to be a tape, I don't know cat parasites like I have seen in dogs, not my own, but kennel dogs.
So. Now they will know what to give me for him.

Which is a good thing so he can get back to eating what everyone else has to eat, and not special food which is causing dissension in the ranks.
THere are some serious woe going on over it. I have to feed Ressie in the bathroom and lock everyone else out.

Yay! Not that you wanted him to have worms, but now he can get better. We know about the food situation...Gracie gives me pitiful eyes because she just KNOWS catfood must be yummier than hers.

The tail pipe to the truck is hanign down to an inch from the ground this morning, so that is going to have to go first. I called and am waiting a call back from the HSof GKC. He seems to be not near as bloated, and if playing is any indication, he feels better. THere is also no blood. So he still has his caulking gun thing of paste with the pro biotics and the kayo, plus an easy digestion diet, so i think he will be fine for one day. I need a spare car but my son's is down too and they are one vehicle. Usually that is what we do when one is being fixed.

He is certainly the t touch cat. He was on my lap, belly up, chin up, purring and eventually asleep. How lame is it I will sit there with his head resting in my palm so I don't disturb him because he is just ..big sigh..too comfortable. I went in circles up one side, down his belly and back up the other side to the tips of his toes. If I had done that to my Siamese when I was growing up, one touch to her tummy would have made me look like I went through a paper shredder. I am glad it brings him such comfort.

Take a picture of the worm!

How long was he on the Albon for?
Don't laugh but I did. Then i decided you couldn't really tell from the photo and that ws about the grossest thing i have taken a pic of yet.

5 days and the next 10 days.

He hs an unhealthy fascination with the ceiling fan. I keep telling him it's a really bad idea.

the only piece of artwork I can leave out. He likes to smell it's breath. Either that or he is seeing if his head fits in it. He puts it in all my bowls, even while I am working on them.

He is amazingly better this morning, in all respects. So we will go with the second round in 6 more days. Hooray.

THank you Barb..i have hard time paying attention to what I am suppose to be because he is so pretty to look at and so funny at the same time. IT wa good to see his routine of play back in place this morning. Starting with his little black rabbit hunt and finishiing with his new fascination. Best dollar I have spent in a long time. Humors us both.

WE are both ridiculously easy to amuse..will be interesting to see which of the grands are drawn to it. Anyway it's something to rotate for recess,

loves times a billion his little black rabbit. (in two parts)
