they are not hybrids- they are mixes.

A hybrid is like a horse and a donkey and you get a mule. Or a wolf and a dog-but not a pug and a beagle making a puggle.

ahh.. producing a mixed breed on purpose is ridiculous if its not for a working reason...

I dont like when we get cocker spaniels/poodles in to work, they always end up with such horrible health issues.

Raggle, Rashon, Brat, Pomerat, Rattle, Puggat, American Rat Pinscher, Ratshi Terrier, Foxy Rat Terrier, Cattle Collie Dog, Sheprador, Aussie-Poo, Bagel Hound, Basston, Basschshund, and on and on and on. . .

^^^I know. . .my mind travels over to the shelter, where the exact same mixes are waiting for a home. . .:(

Yeah I think most of those 'hybrids' are actually people who've adopted, found, bought or been given a mutt (as a mutt...not a designer breed) and just thought it'd be cool to add their dog to the list.

It's completely irresponsible of course and just encourages illinformed people to seek out deliberatly bred mutts of the same mix.

For all we know it's some guys sitting around the computer getting drunk and thinking-up what they want. There's no need to even have a dog. It's just somebody's wannabe website.

I have no doubt they are just an "oops" litter. I dont know what either of the registries the parent's were registered under, but I am sure it is one of those "pay x amount and your dog is registered". Who knows if the parents were really what they say they are. Sad

Yeah you are right, there should be an A in there instead of an O.

I used to like that website until they started posting mixes as breeds, even they got caught in the designer fad

I don't put much in that site, not just because of hybrid dog pages. Anyone can send in a picture. The dogs posted are often not very good examples of the breed. For example, about half of the papillons on the pages come from a puppy mill- Ayer's Pampered Pets. One's listed as a 'toy'. Toy papillons don't exist. There is no size limit in the standard. They go up to 12 lbs, any size up to that is equally acceptable. They also show a weak eared papillon as one of the 'examples' of the breed along with oversized dogs and mismarks. Then about half the dogs to me look mis-labeled.

For example- http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/y/yorkillon.htm
