The normally intelligent magazine Marie Claire sent a luxury gift guide full of high-priced gift ideas with their December issue... fun to read up until this:

Designer Fido
A big, brandy-toting companion sounds great but won't fit in your condo. "Mini Saint Bernards" to the rescue! The recipe for this hip hybrid is top secret. ($1000, www.puppyhaven.biz).

Check out the website if you dare, it's a puppy mill of the worst sort. It's incredibly disappointing that they are promoting this idea and this place.

I sent a email about the lack of ethics in writing it, and the moral implications of pushing puppymills on teens who expect the magazine to be right cause they research and all..

Send them your thoughts. Can't hurt anything. Might make them go big oops..

And i posted it on a few other boards in hopes that enough informed dog lovers say something.

it's so pathetic/sad/disgusting that I have to laugh :|

the "mini st bernards" dont look like St Bernards at all. they look like little terrier mixes with spots. actually, basically all but a few of the mixes look like a random assortment of breeds, exactly like pound puppies for $1000.

Seeing all the dogs in the runs, especially the paps, out living with their 'pack' without human interaction and being bred endlessly upset me so much. It's sad.
