I was out walking today with my bull terrier and some friends with their Border collie for about 2 hours. The dogs got on well and just chased each other and messed about the whole time, although every now and then the collie began humping my dog. Mine didn't care about it but why do they do that? They've never met before today and both are males - mine is unneutered and I think the collie is as well.

Thanks. I searched on Google about it and most sites said the same thing about dominance. He must be a big wimp then as he never bothered doing it back and seemed to be following the collie about more than the other way round. He was playing with a greyhound bitch before as well and she sent him flying on his back just by playing with him. :D

Here he is:

And as a puppy, although I didn't have him then.

Sorry . . . . we are gonna need a LOT more pictures than that! :D I love those little dogs!!!!!

Putting up with the humping doesn't mean he's a wimp, or even that he's submissive, he could be just an extremely even tempered dog who doesn't sweat the small stuff. :)

OH my lordy YES Renee! Eeeeeeeeek! Can't say that I have ever seen a Bull Terrier Puppy in person, I think I would be tempted to dognap one if they are all as cute as he!

I also agree on the putting up with the humping business.......it doesn't make him a "wimp" or anything......and nothing wrong with a submissive dog in everyday situations ;) I say he sounds like an all around nice guy that is willing to live and let live :)

Someone brought their 10 week old, all white bull terrier to the dog park one time.........I SERIOUSLY thought of dognapping. I can't image beinging a bull terrier owner, you must receive dognapping threats by the thousands lol. There was another white bull terrier like about 6months old I would always play with at the dog park, gah I miss her.

Thanks. Yeah, I think he couldn't care less about that sort of stuff. He can be a bit funny when he's on the lead and other dogs are passing, which I think is a nervous thing, but off the lead there's been dogs that have growled at him and he hasn't bothered. There was a time when three Jack Russells were being nasty with him, one putting its paws on his shoulders and growling, and another barking and all he wanted to do was sniff them.

How old is he? When Kharma hit two years old, she suddenly went from not appreciating that sort of behavior to scaring the hell out of anything that tried it.

For Bimmer it was about the time he was a year and a half old.

How do you ever say no to that face? If he was my dog he would get away with murder....I kid you not.

Bull terrier's are my favorite breed, never owned one, but every one I met I fall in love with. I NEVER forget any bull terrier I met. I hope to own one, one day. They are so goofy, cute, and sweet. IMO MOST BEAUTIFUL DOGS EVER.

Rufus is just adorable! OMGAhhh! : D I love his coloring, too.

Fozzie is also a wuss about being humped. He'll just look at the dog like, "uh... pardon me, but..." and passively tries to make it impossible for them, but he never growls.
