I have a dog park friend who has a husky/GSD mix who stops dead in his tracks and howls whenever he hears a siren. It's hysterical!

She said the best part is when she's in her tiny little car with him and her other husky and the windows down and a police/ambulance/firetruck etc. goes by he will stick his head out the window and howl away. Great amusement for everyone in cars around her :D

Hannah will only howl if she hears a harmonica and I've never heard Rascal or Kaylee howl, though Kaylee does get close to it.

STorm sirens and ambulances made Bronki howl. A harmonica usually sets alot of them off. Other then that i don't know. When i hear dogs howl it is usally because they hve been left alone and are stressed and unhappy.

So interesting! My dog does not howl, but I saw a Husky howl before. It was so beautiful.

tornado siren does it. Not fire engine or cop car those are too common or not the right note...but mine will sing with the tornado sirens when they test them.

Raja used to howl when I first started crating her. Of course, she's part wolf. What did you expect? ;)

My dogs howl all the time. It's a hound thing. I had a Scottie that also howled when you played the harmonica.

i have a pack of howlers...
i have never thus far heard Ruby howl...

But the chis (and now the cocker) are singers.

dodger is set off by sirens...of Any kind...and once he starts...Rosie starts, then Vixie starts then charlie starts...it usually takes a while to quiet them down and ruby gets this "oh my god whats happening mommy" look on her face...so im guessing howling to sirens is the bad kind of howl. lol

Rosie howls at sirens and singing, but only certain songs/singers...she likes to sing along to Reba...and now the k9 advantix comercial (that little singing dog realy gets her going lol) and once she starts dodger joins, then vixie then charlie...and ruby looks at me like "umm i think they lost their minds"

Vixie ONLY howls when dodger or Rosie start howling.

ill have to record it at some point, theres nothing more adorable than a pack of chihuahuas howling with the additional base support from a cocker lol

Sawyer howls with a harmonica or when he's very upset, so I don't hear him howl very often at all. I have yet to hear Virgo howl.

Gabbi is a howler. It took Biz a while but he howls now too. I'm waiting to see if the Frenchie will howl. So far he just looks alert when the sirens go. I live right by a firehouse so they go by often.

Holly howls when she's excited, or if she needs to go outside to use the bathroom, and I'm not paying attention to her. She also howls when she stretches. :p

Dekka howls when I leave. I have never heard it...hubby taped it somewhere...
She 'yells' for lack of a better word if I call the other dogs.

Alex our newf/gsd used to howl all the time. For him it was a happy thing. He did it when Mark or I came home, or if you asked him if he wanted a truck ride etc.

I've got some howlers here, obviously!
They don't howl at sirens or wolves on TV or anything, but I wish they would. I love howling. I hate barking. Bleh. Hear that, Cricket? You better learn to howl, boy! :p

I used to have a lot of audio clips of the dogs howling, but it looks like they got deleted. All I could find were these:

Oh, my dogs will howl upon hearing recordings of themselves. They howl when I play these.
