How weird would your house look to non-animal people?

I waws just thinking about this, the cat yelled out and I went to see what he wanted. He was sitting on his rug in teh dining room that we leave for him in front of the heater. The heater is useless unless your sitting right in front of it so we just let the animals use it. Elliot likes it in the morning when everyone gets up to get ready for work, it keeps him warm after he gets out of bed. I had to go and flick it on for him.

We also have a dog bed by the back door with a leash trailing from it, this is where Harry sleeps and we leash him so he doesn't get on the lounge.

We have various dog rugs folded up in the loungeroom, dog bowls in corners and my room has an entire dog crate in it (adding a second one next week in preperation for Quinn's arrival. - my room is going to look like a pound)

Oh... and everything is covered in a light dusting of dog hair.

First thing we do every morning is let the dogs out to pee then unrug Lucy and let both mares out of their night paddocks. Everynight we have to feed and rug horses, feed dogs, collect kindling for the fire and feed the cat before we can settle down and start thinking about our own dinner.

Weekend chores are doing the horses feet, bathing dogs, washing bedding, cleaning up the verandah etc.
Non animal people must think we are mad.

I don't know- the only non-animal people that come to our house are my in-laws (fil is allergic to critters). They accept all the beds, toys, dishes, etc as normal. And my mil loves the "half steps" my husband built when Mick was still alive- they make it easier for her to get in and out of the house.

There's nothing too animal-ish about our house. Lucy has her bed and box of toys in the corner next to the couch, but that's it. Well, and she has a cookie jar on the counter.

I really don't like visiting houses where you can tell animals reign supreme. I love my dog and baby the heck out of her, but the house is kept vacuumed, her stuff doesn't overwhelm the living room, and the place is always tidy.

Now the backyard...that's another story. People do a double take when they see all the agility equipment set up back there!

We keep our house very clean... so it really doesn't look like the dogs have taken over.

There are random toys scattered throughout the house, but since we sweep the floors daily they usually get picked up and put back into the toy box.

I guess the only "weird" things would be the crates in our bedroom? Hmm... I really can't think of anything too doggy. We're going to set up an agility set in the backyard, but I still don't think that would seem too weird.

We don't have crates or dishes that stay on the floor. All we really have are toys scattered everywhere and blankets on most of the chesterfields and love seats. I vacuum a lot though... And people DO know that when they enter my house they're under the dogs on the chain. No one complains, but then again if they did they wouldn't be my friends haha.

Our house isn't really too doggy or anything. For one, Jackson doesn't shed so there's no hair anywhere. He gets bathed once every week-2 weeks depending so he's typically smellin' good, plus no 'dog smell'. ;)

He doesn't use a crate. There's food bowls out on a placemat on the floor. In my bedroom, there's a little basket full of toys. I keep all of Jackson's stuff in a plastic 3-door drawer in closest space so it's not seen. The only thing often left out is maybe a bully stick on the floor, and a leash on the counter sometimes. Oh, and there's 3 little dog beds around, 2 of which are in my bedroom.

You can tell my house is run by kids and dogs LOL.

We live in a small duplex so we all kind of congregate to the living room so there are toy boxes, baby swings, a dog crate under the couch, dog toys scattered along with a water bowl and various other doggy things LOL.

Let's see.
You KNOW when you walk in my house that we are dog people.
We have a leash rack at both entrances.
We have 3 vittle vaults in our kitchen.
Two crates in the livingroom with a vittle vault on top that holds toys.
My dogs will most likely greet you as you come through the door.

Soon we're going to have Stagger Lee's tortoise enclosure in the livingroom, and if you walk downstairs or into my bedroom, you'll see gecko enclosures.

Most non-animal people are very interested in all of our critters.
I think it's because they aren't non-animal people because they DESPISE animals, they just either cannot have them where they live, or they are allergic, or they do not have time for the responsibility.
But who the hell doesn't LOVE animals????
Are there such people???????:lol-sign:

We have a vittle vault on our kitchen counter, and a couple of Ikea leash holders by the door (the ones that look like dog butts!).

Our house isn't run by doggies either only thing is we have a dog bed in the corner in the living room the two crates in my bedroom we also have a water dispenser in the kitchen only other thing than that we have a couple of dog toys on the floor for them to play with but they would rather wrestle around with each other. We try to make sure that they stay off the couches because they tend to shed and my company hates it when they get hair on them. There dog bowls get picked up and put in the food container after there meals and are leashes are hung behind the door.

Since Bailey loves to pull out his toys and chewies as soon as I put them back in the toy box, you can definitely tell a dog lives there! Unless I have just picked up, there are usually leashes and collars and treats on various surfaces. And his bed and blanket are in the living room.

I do not miss having a crate!

Yeah, you can tell my dogs live here. All the leashes/collars/harnesses are hung right inside the door. There are dog toys scattered around (Mina quite enjoys getting all the toys out right after they've been picked up), and while I do vacuum everyday there is usually still some dog hair on the floor (they roll around on the carpet and I swear it pulls it out ), especially when Upendi is blowing coat (like right now). I wish like nothing else that I had hardwood floors and leather furniture. :(

And then there's the dog beds, and the xl crates in my bedroom. Oh and of course there's Miss Babbits cage right at the top of the steps too.

That being said, my animals LIVE here. Any guests are just that guests, so the come a little lower on the list than my dogs.

The only thing you'll notice in our house in the kitchen/dinning room/living room/hallway is one dog bed (behind a chair next to the wall) and a dog water bowl. ;)

The crates are kept in various rooms in the 2 upstairs parts of the house. Food bowls are only out during feeding, food is stored in a plastic container in the pantry, and toys are kept in a box in the corner that isn't noticable. Any type of leash, collar, shampoo, ear cleaner, brush, grooming supplies, treats, etc are all kept in the laundry room that is closed off from visitors view by doors.

Extremely :(

There are trophies with little coonhounds on top of them everywhere, ribbons next to framed certificates and photos of Daisy, photos of dogs everywhere, a big wrought iron cut-out of two dogs treeing a raccoon next to my desk, a wooden Basset cut-out over the birdcage, and a wooden plaque above my bulletin board with a coonhound head and the letters "PLT" next to it. Then there are two dog beds in the living room, a crate in the back room and a crate in the little vestibule before the bathroom. There are leash racks next to both doors, toys everywhere (I can't put them away before Autumn's dragging them back out), tracking/obe/agility "stuff" everywhere, and a tie-out chain in the yard.

Yep, my apartment has gone to the dogs, completely.

That being said, I vacuum like 4 times a day and wipe up the kitchen floor of Daisy's hair daily ;)

Pretty weird I suppose. I have one mouse tank in the mudroom where we also keep our fridge. Some atleast non rodent people think that is gross.......whatever lol.

Anouther smaller tank sitting on one of the tables in the living room holding baby Sarabi.

Our cats are usually laying on the kitchen table (we never use it) or counters. Especially in the summer since those are cooler surfaces. Also the food/water bowls for the cats are on the counters.

The dusting of animal hair of course. Though I vaccum everyday and dust a few times a week. Oh the joy of Lab fur.

A balled up leopard print comforter that Morrison loves in the corner of the living room.

A meat scale in the kitchen. Though I guess its not too weird for most homes. We wouldn't have one if the dogs and cats didn't eat raw.

Multiple leashes, collars, and extra tie outs hang on the coat rack instead of coats/purses.

Probley not too weird to animal people. But we do have the occasional guest who thinks we are going way over board with the animals lol.

You can tell dogs live in the house, but it's because there's food bowls, a big water bowl, a bag of dog food in the kitchen, and leashes by the front door. All the toys have a bin of their own in the laundry room.

I think the one thing that non dog owner might find strange here are the dogs' toy basket.

Bandit does shed and it doesn't matter how much I vaccume or brush him if you have a certain type of fabric on you'll probably leave with some dog hair on you. Other than that the only weird thing about my home is instead of finding a baby in my playpen or crib you'll find my cat. She used to sleep in bed with me but since I was given them as a gift she's moved into the living room into her crib that she has claimed for her own. Which is FINE by me. I want to co-sleep with my baby anyways and needed to get the cat out of the bed. She weaned herself.

Bandit isn't a very spoiled dog. His brushes are kept under my sink, he eats out of the same dishes I do so they get washed after each use (as does the cat), his leash is kept on my shoe rack and he has one ball we play with. I leave a water dish out for him and the cat. The cat doesn't even need a litter box as she goes outside to relief herself. I'd say there is nothing here that screams over the top I HAVE A DOG.

Does anyone ever walk into a house and think "what the heck is wrong with this house?"

and then you realize there are no dog toys anywhere on the floor?

I don't think it would seem too weird.

I have a fair few leashes hanging from the coat rack by the front door. And a bag full of dog gear by the door.

And heaps of dog books in my book shelf. And probably a little more hair than usual, but really we do try and keep the house a bit orderly.
