He was awful sweet when the children were here. Blind or not, he is still one of the gang and a new pretty girl, is someone he truly wants to meet. vid
I worry that I cannot give him the exercise that Mary had in her old years that I believe contributed so much to her senior good health. Same goes for Pepper who is still way to young to not be able to run and run. Her severed tendon and artery finished that for good. WHen she runs hard she will limp for months. Victor just can't trust to let go full out when he can't see where he is going, and the best I can give him is a short quick clip. I am watching him age so fast, and am doing everything I can to ensure a good immune system, and he still gets a daily walk, but I only wish, the woods were still a part of our life. WE have tried, even at a slow pace, but he now prefers pavement, and sidewalks, and shop fronts with walls where he can sense exactly where he is. A few bumps to his nose and his confidence takes a nose dive. He managed a trip to Petco today to smell all the good smells, but seemed also relieved to get back to the truck. So I tuck him in, and make him comfy, give him his daily goodie during his walk. I don't know what else I can do.
Love this dog more than the air I breathe, the thought of losing him ...well, we are to the point of one more day with VIctor. Lets hope it lasts with the luck Mary had despite the woods and friends magic.
At least the children bring out the boy I know. He will always think of himself as one of the gang. When they sang into the microphones he was right in the middle willing to give it a go too even if he had no idea what they were doing.

It's so hard, watching them age. Murphy is going deaf but at least he is smart enough to know to come in from the yard at night when he sees a flashlight beam.
Have you looked at the Halo Collars? It's a bumper of sorts for blind dogs to keep them from running nose first into objects. I'll bet you could rig something similar for Victor...
