I'll put it simply. Our vet has recommended that Harris Teeter food brand is the best for our dogs, and my dad switched them over to that recently. Ohmygod. Junior has a vet appointment coming up, and I need stuff and facts to bring up and questions to ask about feeding raw, since my dad said what the vet says goes. So right now..Harris Teeter brand it is. Help!!

Most vets are not crazy about raw food for a lot of reasons. May be talking to your vet prior to your appointment could help.

On the other hand if your dog is doing fine with his current diet ..... do not worry too much.

I finally got my mom to switch the cats to Taste of the Wild. I rave about how well Gavorche does on TOTW and how much less the cats actually have to eat (and hence how much cheaper it is in the long run). Plus I take care of all the vet stuff, so my parents never hear what te vets says about food.

Even at that, the vet I work for isn't crazy abotu raw, and does sell/recommend Science Diet, but several of the employees are starting to switch to better brands.

i honestly do not think a lot of vets give good advice regarding dog food, i feel they are great for giving meds to our pooches, but any vet who carries dog food that contains corn and the food is a precription for sensitive stomach just doesnt know a lot about dog food. here is a white paper on the myth of high protien diets, it doesnt directly appy to what you want, but grain free food and raw food will be a high protien diet, and i bet he will have something to say about that.

Good luck!
