I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to clip my dog's nails? Has anyone heard of using a dremel? If so, could you tell me how you use it?

There was an article in Dog Fancy magazine this past July or August on that subject. Maybe someone has an old issue or one is left at one of the pet stores.

i got a bad experience with hair getting caught in the dremel so i wouldnt do it if you got a dog with long hair.

if you decide to cut them, the best time is right after a bath when the nails are nice and soft, that makes it more comfortable for your pup.

The second set is for small dogs/animals.
The first set is similar to the clippers I have. The flat metal part (on the opposite side from where you put the nail in) is a barrier to keep you from clipping the nails to short.

It is for large breed dogs (with longer/bigger nails) but they have them for smaller breeds as well. They usually come with instructions on how to use them correctly. Make sure you have a syptic (sp?) stick nearby in case you clip the quick and the nail starts bleeding.

I also use a nail file on my Boxer, but the file is just for the rough edges. I use a some guillotine style nail clippers to actually cut the nail. They seem to work a treat and they mustn't hurt him because when I get them out, for some weird reason he gets very excited and jumps up on the lounge and lays on his back ready for a nail clip!
