You found out there was no Santa Claus?

Believe it or not... I was in Grade 4 lol. I held onto the Santa thing for a LONG time lol.

I found out because Christmas eve when my mom thought I was asleep she started arranging my presents and I came out of my room to go to the bathroom and saw her. she saw me but I acted like I didn't notice. I put on the act like my eyes were half closed and I rubbed them all the way to the bathroom and all the way back to my room. I wasn't upset or anything but I dind't want to ruin it for my mom LOL. I didn't want to hurt her feelings by coming out and catching her so I acted like I didn't see anything.

She knew I did though lol

Hummm, I can't remember, actually. I think the year my mom got us all one instrument for X-Mas. Both grandparents on dad's side were still alive so it was before 2000. I remember we got a PlayStation... a cockateil for Sara.

Sara got drums, I got a guitar and Andie got a keyboard. I still have my guitar to this day!

I never believed in Santa. My whole family likes to remind me how frustrated I'd get when I'd try to explain why Santa isn't real to everyone and they all pretended not to believe me. I had to be all of 3 years old.

I was taught from the second I could understand that there was no Santa. My mother believed the whole thing was evil and she didn't want me hearing from someone else that there was a Santa.

Well Im Jewish so I always knew Santa wasnt real...

In first grade we had to draw a picture of our house... we dont have a chimney so I didnt draw one... my teacher asked and wheres your chimney? I said we didnt have one and she said then how does Santa come in your house? I said "Santa isnt real" (really loud because I was frustrated my now)... she said "Yes he is" and I responded by telling her it was peoples parents who bought the toys and pretended to be Santa while a bunch of 6 -7 year olds stared on in disbelief... she about near fainted :rofl1:

I was never a "hardcore" Santa believer. I thought the tale was fun, but I think that in my heart, I never really completely bought into it the way that some kids do. But I really gave it up when I was around 5 or 6 years old. I got really suspicious when my dad started suggesting that I leave margaritas for Santa instead of cookies.

I don't recall actually...probably not long tho. My daught Lily just found out last year when she was 6 or so..she just is too logical and asked so many questions and kinda just figured it out on her own...first the easter bunny...then the Tooth Fairy...then Santa. All in the same day...she just started taking them down brick by brick LOL.

I must have doubted at a very young age ...but pretended there still was one for my folks. I was 7 when my Dad went overseas to war. That 1st Christmas without him when it was time to put out Santa's tea and cookies , I told my Mom that we'd put out coffee and cookies . She didn't like tea.

I was in like 5th grade
I remember getting in a fight with this kid named Matthew Dressler, me saying he was real and Matthew saying he wasn't. LOL

My little sister is 8 and still thinks he's real. Hence why she's the only one who gets presents at Christmas here.

LOL HBH

Now I find it funny that I wouldn't get my picture taken with him cause I was scared but I had NO problem with the idea of him coming into my house at night to drop off presents... just as long as I didn't have to SEE him I guess lol.

But....

Even to this day I love the whole Santa Claus thing. I always will. my mom was a collector of all things Santa. she had a HUGE collection. She even made a lifesize one on plastic canvas.

For some ODD reason I can't remember the whole "Santa thing"

I remember my parents wouldn't let us into the kitchen while they would wrap gifts..lol

I DO remember when I found out about the Tooth Fairy..lol

They "thought" I was asleep and I heard them counting change..but the whole time I just acted like I was alseep...I didn't want them to think I was awake the whole time..lol

I was 10 when my parents told me, although I had secretly believed there was no Santa since I was 7 years old.

When I was 7 on the night before Easter there was a massive snow storm and my dad was snowed in his office overnight. All of the Easter candy/presents were in his car. My mom ended up telling me that there wasn't an Easter bunny, lol, and that I'd get my Easter stuff later. From there I figured that there wasn't a Santa. I kept it to myself so I wouldn't ruin my chances of getting stuff. lol.

OH the tooth fairy lol... my mom has a really funny story about me when I lost my second tooth.

I put it under my pillow like you are supposed to and I guess my mom totally forgot to come in and take the tooth and leave a dollar. Well I came STOMPING out of my room the next morning and my mom knew right away that she had forgotten. Well I come out with my hands on my hips and a scowl on my face and said "That STUPID Tooth Fairy didn't come. I'm so ANGRY" LMAO and I continued to stomp around the house lol. My mom was quick on her feet and said "Are you sure you looked hard enough? let me look"... and she went into my room and put a dollar under my pillow and called out to me "Tanya... the dollar is RIGHT here. YOu msut not have looked hard enough"

And I bought it hook line and sinker LOL

ETA: that is an adorable picture.

I think I was around 10 when I "officially" stopped believing. I think deep down I knew there wasn't a Santa earlier, but because everyone played like there was without slacking because of my younger brothers, I went along with it.... I still do :p

Funny enough though, when we lived in CA my grandpa would dress up as Santa, I figured out it was him (there are only so many Christmases where he takes a shower, goes to the bathroom, is sick, etc. etc. before you start to think something is up :lol-sign:) but I was STILL scared to sit on his lap :rofl1:

ETA: I stopped believing in the toothfairy when I found my teeth in a ring box :yikes: But I still demanded money since, after all, she was keeping my teeth, LOL.

Hehehehe, sneaky girl!

I think I was around 10 or so, give or take. I had to keep it on the DL because I had younger brothers and sisters.

I have chosen NOT to tell my kids that Santa is alive and brings presents while they are sleeping. They know of the legend, and how the story got started.

I figured, tell them there's an easter bunny.......they find out there isn't.

tell them there's a tooth fairy.........they find out there isn't.

tell them there's a Santa........they find out there isn't.

tell them about God...............

I just want to keep my words honest to them, let them know they can trust that what I tell them is honest and true to the best of my knowledge. Personal choice.
