How often do you vaccinate for rabies?

In Canada (at least in BC) the law is to vaccinate every 3 years. However, if we want to ever drive into the states, we have to vaccinate annually to be allowed entry. So far I vaccinated one every year 2 times and this time I didn't go to renew the 1 year and I'm thinking unless I want to take her to the states, I'll just leave it until the 3 year mark.

Really?! Huh... That's dumb, lol. I wonder if it's because there are still some state (AFAIK) that don't allow 3 year vacs... hmmm.

Just seems super dumb since 3 year vac protocols are pretty prevalent here. Sorry about our stupid laws, lol.

What about Washington? That's where I enter the states from.

Otherwise I would never vaccinate every year, that seems excessive.

Morgan is vaccinated every three years. Though, I kind of remember that his FIRST rabies vacc. was for only one year, and then every three years after that. This is the system that my vet uses by default.

Dunno if that helps, but it's what I do. :)
thats what my vet does...

Don't know about Washington, blah. Dumb law, though, really. Definitely excessive, I agree.

Every three years after the first. Argon is due in a week, and Gambit, since he's so young, will be due next month. Then not again for three.

Here rabies is an issue, and I wouldn't let it go. I was nailed by a dog at work, whose vaccine had expired 10 days before, and the dog ended up dead. Of course, this was mostly because mom refused to quarentine her at home, or pay someone else to, but the situation was so horrible that now I'm paranoid.

Thanks for all the input, guys!

I think I'm going to make an appointment for him to get his rabies ASAP, and make sure it's a three-year certificate.
