How much food do your dogs eat?

As I was feeding Binn and Stella tonight.. I was wondering how much food do you give your dogs at meal time?

Binn eats 4 cups.. 3 cups of dry food and 1 can of wet food mixed in twice a day.. in the morning and in the evening.

Stella gets the same, but she eats only in the evenings.

Their kibble is large breed.

Binn eats 8 cups a day?! Growing boy!

Dakota eats 2 cups and gets fed in the evenings. I measure out his food every day and take food out of his cup when I'm going to be training him. If he has food left at the end of the day, it goes in his bowl with a half cup of raw meat/veggie mix and a raw egg every other day. He gets a beef neck bone on every day that he doesn't get the egg.

Ripley eats 1/4 cup, twice a day. He gets an egg every other day, and a chicken neck or drumstick on the days that he doesn't get an egg.

Tango:
1 cup of kibble (California Natural Lamb & Rice at the moment), twice daily.

Winston:
1 1/4 cups of kibble (Canidae), twice a day.

Morgan:
1.5 cups of kibble (Canidae), twice a day.

Tia:
1/4 cup of kibble (Canidae), twice a day.

Piper:
1/2 cup of kibble (California Natural), twice a day. Once she's an adult, her intake will be cut back a bit.

They also all get about a table spoon of canned Innova or CN at dinner time, just for added flavour. They also get an egg twice weekly. They all get fed in the morning, whenever we wake up and again in the evening (around 5:00).

Zoe gets about 1/2 - 3/4 cup morning and 3/4 cup in the evening. Yet she spends the rest of the day pushing her bowl around like she is still starving.

Herschel gets 1/2 cup, twice a day. It was Canidae, now it is Innova adult. (By the way, his coat was much nicer with Canidae!)

For some reason, he was incredibly hungry today. He had 1/2 cup for breakfast, then in the evening he had 3/4 of a cup, maybe more! He had even had some pineapple as a snack in the middle of the day.

It might have been because we went on a mid-day run, in addition to his regularly scheduled exercise, but that was a lot of food for such a little guy!

We don't free feed. He tells us when he is full--and after 1/2 cup he is usually totally content and he wanders off to play. Today, he just hung around and kept nudging his bowl. He isn't food motivated at all so we knew he wasn't being greedy. :)

Currently about 900 kcal per day. A little more if he does a lot of strenuous exercising, like bike runs of several miles, or a lot of hiking.

Lilly is on 25g of Royal Canin Light a day and a kong filled with chicken breast and yoghurt. This RC light is saving me a fortune, she won't eat it! Maybe that is their diet formula. She is looking nice and trim though!

Hudson eats 1/2 cup dry with 1 TB wet in the morning. And 1 cup dry with 2 TB wet in the evening (a little less in the evening if I've used kibble for training that day). Seems to be right since he's keeping his weight the same. He gained 3 pounds the first couple of weeks I had him, and he has stayed at a steady 35 pounds since. :)

Wally and Mike both get 2 chicken quarters and about a cup of mash (veggie and ground meat mix) for the day. Because Mike needs a little more than Wally some days I will feed him a whole small chicken or give him more mash.

When Wally was on high grade kibble he was eating about 6 cups a day and still wasn't gaining weight. Mike was on about 6-8 cups a day before I got him, and that was his weightloss diet!! There's something to be said for these dogs with their super high metabolisms. I wish I had one.

Charlie (94 lbs) eats 3 cups once a day = 1086/kcal

Shiloh (65 lbs) eats 2 - 2.5 cups once a day = 724-905/kcal

sometimes they get a little more depending on activity levels
but some labs have a tendency to put on weight and I like
to keep mine looking good.:) Even though they are active
You can tell when they are eating too much rather quickly.

Rocket (70 lbs) eats 5 cups or more per day, but in two feedings = 1810/kcal or more. This dog is super active with a high metabolism. And so far stays thin no matter how much she eats.

I think this is interesting and for the others, how many kcal per day does your
dog eat......not just cups because dogfoods contain different calories per cup. :p

Duke goes through rougly 4 (dry) cups a day. Some times more sometimes less. He free feds so he eats whenever he really wants. But he does eat most that food at night after hes been out for a few hours.

Tosca has a cup of dry in the AM and a cup of dry at suppertime. She also gets a slice of Natural Balance Dog Food Roll throughout the day, she has to earn pieces of it. It's about the equivalent to a quarter to a half a can of dog food.

I don't know about you guys, but I have to readjust her intake based on her weight so that she doesn't gain weight. I think I have settled on what keeps her stable. She would eat twice as much if I gave it to her.

Both boys eat 1.5cups of a mix of Wellness super 5 and a Sport dog formula (lower fat and protein) twice a day in the summer sometimes with a raw egg or chicken thrown in.

During the winter their diet gets a little more complex. Last winter I fed a mixture of Wellness Super 5/Wellness Puppy/and this Working dog kibble (high fat high protein) and they got raw egg, molasses, chunks of beef/chicken/venison/salmon/tuna/turkey, pure beef fat, fruits/veggies and olive oil depending on what their work out schedual was. This winter a buddy of mine made up a whole new feeding schedual for me so I''m going to play around with it, see what I can afford and go from there.

I don''t feed my guys carbs because they''re not too good for Sibes and so they get what they need from the kibble. Sometimes I toss in some whole wheat bread but not too much.

Smokey ( 41 lbs) gets 2 cups a day of Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Fish, one for breakfast and the other around 5 PM. I mix a couple of teaspoos of NB canned in with her breakfast portion. She is pretty active and we walk about 4-5 miles per day, every day. BTW, her coat glistens in the sunlight.

Max is getting two cups of Natural Balance in the morning and two cups in the evening. I'm still feeding him the puppy amount...which is double what he will be getting as an adult from what I understand. I tried the Nutro Ultra puppy formula and he "loved" it...but then I was reading on here that it is mediocre at best.

Diesel is getting about 3 1/2 to 4 cups of Nutri-source a day. I thought this was a good food, but I'm going to have to do some more research on it, now that I've been reading more on dog foods. He seems to be doing good on it, and enjoys his meals, but I know that doesn't always mean everything.
