My guess is 7 pups.
I hope everything goes well.
Do we get to keep the pups if we guess right? Is it like one of those guess how many jelly beans in the jar things?
I guess 5
P.S. let us know how it goes.
uhm how long is a dog pregnant for???
adverage 61 days but a ***** can have healthy pups from day 58, but it should never be left longer than the 64 th day following the last mating, Jess is on her 57th day today
I bet that thermometer's getting a workout !!
Sure is, she is so good though I expected her to run, but she just sighs and lies there
the suspense is killing me! Is it almost time? I'm nervously pacing back and forth. I keep coming on here everyday to see if she had her pups yet. I'm sure you're WAY more excited though than nervous. Is this your first litter? Is that the correct way to phrase it?
Hi you sound like me LOL, she is on her 58th day today, so the pups could be born soon, I'm both excited as well as nervous I just want her to have a easy time and for everyone to be healthy, this is my first litter with my dog, I have helped whelp other litters, so I guess I'm more worried this time as she is my little girl, If I can I will post when she goes into labour, fingers crossed
I hope everything goes well for her. I keep thinking about her.
Poor little gurl (Mom and Doggy alike!)... just waiting and wondering... she's probably wondering what's happening to her little bod. It's so magical when they start whelping. She'll be concerned, worried, and looking to her Mamma for reassurance. It's such a sweet time...
i would LOVE to witness a puppy birth, i bet ure excited!!! where do u live? can i come watch? ok, this sounds sick.lol but i would love to see it.
It's so... magical... that's the only word I can find. The Mamma is contracting over and over again and the puppy starts to emerge in a gooey blob and all of a sudden pops out and she seems very surprised like WHAT WAS THAT?! But her Mommy instincts kick in and she starts licking and licking and stimulates the puppy and removes it from the sack. Sometimes, you need to assist in removing it from the sack. What's really rough on them is when they've already had some puppies and she's licking them (to stimulate and clean) while having contractions for the next and knows at one point she needs to abandon the ones she's been tending to to take care of the one she just birthed. Bubbatd would always take the newly born puppies and place them in a pile close to their Mamma's face but let her know she's there to "watch things" while she takes care of the one coming out. It's such a sweet time...
ETA: and their sweet little "mews" as newborns are the best!!!
Sob, I miss it so !!! It's such a rewarding experience when you know you're helping out. Momma gets so tired and appreciates your towel drying, cord tieing , a drink of water, etc. And then when it's all over, her fresh bedding with her new babies cuddled up and with a big sigh, she relaxes.
YAY! It's almost puppy time...will be hoping the whelping goes well and that all the pups will be healthy.
can u record it and post it here? i dont wanna sound like a pervert...but i think its quite an experience..or record it and keep it for yourself at least...
I still have records of each of my whelps...time born, sex, weight etc. Fun time !
I have my whelping chart all worked out I will keep them for ever lol. Today is her 59th day and I'm getting less sleep already coz i keep checking up on her, I keep watching her for little signs, she is snoozing on the sofa at the mo, I will post if i can when the labour starts and keep you all updated
i was actually talking about videorecording
