I know we have had a thread like this before, but I couldn't find it when I put it into search. So, how in tune are your dogs to your emotions? Kenai, the little youngster he is, doesn't seem to have any idea what you're feeling. It seems as if Georgia senses how you feel, but only pays attention to it if she feels like it. Lucky isn't in tune to my emotions at all, and I don't know about Buddy since he is always a cuddle bug no matter how you are feeling. Sarah knows if I am upset, and will slink up to me if I am sitting outside sometimes when I am feeling down, and lay down next to me. Rosie, on the other hand, is VERY in tune to my emotions. She will come up and snuggle all over me, and move around my body until she has snuggled every part of it, she'll touch my nose with hers and hold it there for minutes on end, she'll lick my tears away, and she will sleep with me until I am feeling better. I love it, she is such a sweetheart. I have never had a dog so in tune to my emotions, never had one that really comforts me when I am upset. I was VERY upset last night and I was crying for hours. Rosie made me feel a lot better and she even made me smile. :) Good dog.

Beau is the most in tune dog I've been around. Not just for us, but anyone. I miss him so much because he's the dog I'd go to for a laugh. He knew just what to do. And at the same time, he could be so sensitive and loving. He is truly the caretaker of everyone in our family.

Summer is a similar way. Once a friend came over who was very sad (she found out her brother had committed suicide). Summer completely ignored me and stayed with her the entire time she was here. My friend had come over because she was living far from home and didn't want to be alone. She says Summer helped her through that night.

Mia doesn't seem too observant yet. lol She's too hyper and playful. Nard and Rose are okay at it. Rose is brilliant with my dad. Nard is just so solemn it's hard to take him seriously sometimes.

Pit doesn't seem to get it. Or maybe he does, I don't know. He spends the greater part of the day ignoring me, but he seems to hang back more if I'm having a bad day or if I'm sad. He's seen me cry and didn't seem interested or disturbed in any way.

He knows what happy is, by golly. He just doesn't care most of the time! :p

The Dobermans are both very intune to how I feel. If I'm anxious, they're anxious; if I'm happy, they're happy; if I'm feeling tired and lazy, they are too. I have to be very, very careful around them sometimes depending on what I'm feeling -- especially Keira. I can alter their behaviour/temperament incredibly easily, unintentionally, without having to say or do anything -- just by feeling.

I don't know about Dance. She's not anywhere near as intune/sensitive to my emotions/behaviour as the Dobermans, but I don't think many dogs are. If I'm upset over something, she tends to act worried/anxious, and if I'm excited about something, she's 10x more excited than I am. But for the most part, I wouldn't say she's very intune to me. Just easily influenced by the energy surrounding her.

Abby is very turned into emotions, especially the BFs emotions.

She can tell if he's tense, or if he's happy and it's like her tail is a barometer of his mood. Kind of interesting to watch her. :)

I noticed that too, Toller when I had Lyric....very, very hyper in-tuned to me. But that is no surprise. After all, they were selected to be extra observant of their environment AND their person.

My Chihuahuas also are very responsive to my moods. And so is Toker. I think it's just a dog thing in general to be that way after thousands of years living with humans. The ones who were more intuned thrived better in their niche with humans. It was just simply an evolutionary advantage TO be more congitive of humans' demeanor, actions, expressions etc. But of course, there are variations in all things and some dogs can get along better than others with less human closeness and don't seem to rely on that in-tuneness as much as another for their own, individual way of operating.

Mocha & Missy are both extremely in tune with my emotions. They know when I'm happy, sad, upset.. They know when I want them near and when I don't. They read me better than I do myself sometimes.

Muffin.. ah I think she knows, too - but just too busy with her own things to care

Ares is amazingly in tune to my emotions -- sometimes it seems like he can read my thoughts, but I'm sure it's just very slight changes in my facial expressions and body language - so slight that I'm not aware of them. If I'm stressed, he'll get zoomies. If I'm sad, he'll be a clown.

Morgan is also very in tune. She gets stressed when I'm stressed and she will cuddle with me when I'm sad.

Tyr?? I think he's in tune, but his needs for my attention are more important than how I feel at the moment.

Nyx...*sigh*...She has a hard time reading others -- dogs or people.

We're just getting over the neutering of Ozzie, 6 month old samoyed, and I decided to come down with the flu. I was feeling really lousy yesterday, and laid down on the love seat to try to catch a little nap. Within a minute of laying down, the mini-aussie, Woody had jumped up and was taking his own nap behind me. Then Ozzie decided to join in and climbed up in front of me. I was in a dog sandwich for about a half hour, before I got the heart up to make Ozzie get down.
Intuned to my feelings, of just wanting to join in the nap, I don't know! :)

Seeing as Millie is my service dog, most of her job is to be in tune with me and respond.
She knows if I'm getting sick before I start noticing symptoms, she knows if I'm going to have a panic attack. She's in tune with all of my emotions. She reads my mind and knows what I'm going to do or say before I even do. When I try to hide stress or sadness to avoid her picking upon it and getting stressed and sad herself, she sees right through it.

And this:
I have to be very, very careful around them sometimes depending on what I'm feeling -- especially Keira. I can alter their behaviour/temperament incredibly easily, unintentionally, without having to say or do anything -- just by feeling.
I don't know about Lucy. She's too busy doing her thing. If I came home crawling with a severed leg she'd probably sit and look at me and demand food.

I don't think Lucy has a clue lol.

To some extent I think Juno "gets" me. If I'm not feeling well or something, she kind of tones down her hyperness and is more content than usual to sit on the couch with me.

One night I was really sick, not off color, but REALLY sick and my old cattle dog just sat on the floor beside me while I was on the lounge. When I went to bed, for the first and only time in her life she spent the night beside my bed. Never before had she slept beside my bed, always in her own bed.

They know what's going on.

my Nutmeg couldnt care....

Love will be attentive to me and be snuggly if I am upset. I have cried many tears into her fur.

Lady on the other had is WAY to intuned ot my emotions.

I rehab wildlife and if I am worried about a Baby Lady is worried about me. she will wimper and place her head on my lap and her separation anxiety get worse and she just wants to help me feel better. When I loose a baby Lady is always there for me. She knows. Im not sure how but she does and she reads me well. I couldnt do what i do without my dogs.
