Well said, Melanie.
Breeding is a HUGE responsibility. I think you have the ultimate obligation to the pups for the rest of their lives.
If I were breeding I would be prepared to take back the pup-for any reason- at any time.
Screening for a good home is important, but I think it goes beyond that morally.
For example some breeders tattoo the pup with THEIR info before sending the pup off to a home, so if it were to land in a shelter they would know.
IMHO if you are bringing pups into this world you need to take responsibility for them-it doesn't stop when the pup leaves to a new home.

I believe that a breeder should stay in touch with the new owner of the puppy through out its whole life... My breeder and are are best friends... every one else i know they talk to there dogs breeder all the time as well.

Nothing made me happier than hear from owners ....even up to their death . Dr2.... the interesting story on that one pup is that he got the best home ever. The lead violinist ( of the Suzuki family ) in the Indy Symphony knew a visiting violinist and met one of my Goldens .... he fell in love with him and David gave him my number . Pup Indy is pictured in Suzuki's portrait .
