7 week old pug. When do we start bathing? Plan on taking him to be groomed but can't until 12 weeks old. he smells ok (like a puppy), I've been cleaning his wrinkle every other night and his ears once a week.

I'd wait as long as possible ...a good brushing daily . You might want to get those " Quick Wash " cloths..Will wipe off the dirt without a full bath .

A puppy shouldnt need a bath until around 10 weeks. if he gets dirty, just wipe him down with a damp cloth. thats just my oppinion. and when you do give the pup a bath make sure to use puppy shampoo.

You can give him a bath now, it's fine. Just make sure to dry him well and keep him from getting chilled. You are in Texas, that shouldn't be hard to do LOL!! Make sure you clean his ears and wrinkle right after the bath with a drying solution and don't forget about those PUG NAILS!!! I would also recommend a tearless puppy shampoo because the face is so flat it's easier to splash in the eyes.

show pug...nails? How do I take care of those bad boys? they really do need to be filed! They are getting long and he is just 7 weeks!
I must give you a fair warning when it comes to pug nails! LOL!! YOU MUST START THE TRAINING NOW!! I would recommend that you grind them instead of clip them. All of my pugs tolerate the grinding (one falls asleep during) in fact, I think they think I am giving them a maincure and pedicure. Anyway, here is the tool I use on my puglets. http://www.petedge.com/shopping/pro...0&iSubCat=0&iSubSubCat=0&iProductID=4459&AS=1

Start now by holding and rubbing your pug's feet. When he tolerates it, give him a cookie, but you must not give in to him if he throws fits. You are the leader!

Thanks for the info showpug. I definitely need to do something. To tell you the truth though I hate shopping online and would prefer to buy this at a store. Does anyone know where I can buy a grinder in the store?

You could also buy a small dremmel at Home Depot. You just need to make sure it doesn't get too hot on his nails. It's best to keep it moving on the nail tip so one spot doesn't start to get warm. I know that a lot of my show friends use actual dremmels.
