Because I don't even know where to start. I don't know the area, and online job search engines are crammed full of "WORK AT HOME AND MAKE A BILLION DOLLARS IN 3 DAYS!!!!11!!111!!!!"

I attempted to apply on the Washington State website because there are some sate jobs I'm interested in (mainly case manager jobs), but their website is freaking out right now and won't let me click anything.

Any suggestions?

Move here then look jobs? :) You have a place to stay anywayz. Let me know what you are looking for and I'll help out however I can. That is, if you're still planning on moving to this area? ;)

Locate local newspapers web sites. Search "corporations in (your city here)" and go to their individual web sites. Search "Fortune 500 companies in (your city here)". Etc...

That's what I am doing right now-- well, at least I know the area. You could also try to find companies you'd like to work for and check their websites directly. And you could send in a resume, some might actually do a phone interview first.

You could always take a trip out there and try to cram as many interviews in one day as possible- but that sounds stressful, lol!

Good luck!

When I moved across country, I knew what type of job I wanted to see about getting (vet's office, as that's what I'd been doing for the past several years). I skipped looking at classifieds and instead send a letter and resumes to a few clinics. One called about a week later, I set up an interview for a time when I was visiting right before moving, and then got the job and started once I was moved.

Try some of the websites where employers post jobs -- like CareerBuilder, but also including any industry-specific sites. Look on the websites of potential employers for positions. And send resumes with cover letters even if a particular place you are interested in doesn't have a job listing, if they really sound like a good fit!

Good luck!
