Let me just break the ice and raise the topic: dog farts.

I know that like humans, dogs just have their days. But Nigel is an entirely different animal, and I'm guessing most Greyhound owners are subject to the same digestive difficulties. Have you found anything in particular that does a good job of clearing the clouds? When Nigel gets on a streak it's just wrong, and I'm guessing that there are ways to keep his posterior barking under control :)

Truffles and Sola are labs, and they have stomachs of steel by comparison. But when something does set them off, they put Nigel to shame, and you don't want to be around to witness that, trust me.

Aside from yogurt, what have you found that works?

Great tip! I could try the match thing, but I'd like to keep the roof on the house :D
Ahh, but without a roof there would be more ventilation, therefore less stench.. See I did solve your problem, my methods however are a bit unorthadox! ;)

Gas X or Phazyme caps. It's the simethicone that does the wonders. Thankfully my three are relatively immune . . . Shiva . . . now that's an entirely different matter  Some days in the office it's hard to tell who stinks worse, her or Charlie.

I keep air freshener within arms reach in my room, because Daisy tends to get the farts at night and the smell will wake me up. So I just spray a bunch of air freshener around and go back to sleep.

Smell the stinkyness and move on lol. I don't really do anything about it. Neither of my dogs fart all that often. But especially when Sawyer has gas.......gah it smells like he took a dump lol.

Actually our cats have the more frequent gas and it really reeks lol.

Saga used to have really bad gas all the time. I have found that fish based food has helped her. Beyond that, I just suffer or toss a blanket over her, but that one can backfire.

CORK!!

As Malcolm has gotten older (9 yrs old) he has become more sensitive to wheat and barley. It's not in his food, but is in the dog treats I usually buy. And now that my BF has learned the joy of "treating", he overfeeds the dogs, so Malcolm has special wheat-free treats and the house doesn't smell at all. :p

Strider used to get bad gas on lamb, pork, and about half of all teh human foods out there. We spent some time building up his digestive system using tripe and solid gold seameal. Now he can go from one kibble to another without adjusting and do fine. He's really good digesting just about every human food now, as long as it does not have chiles in it.Otherwise. Eww. And not just farts either.

Charlie on the other hand, has been nicknamed "swamp bottom". Oh. My. Gosh. He reeks so bad when he farts it literally burns my eyes. We're trying to build his guts up, but even a little change in kibble will give him the runs for a day or two. Ugh. He had diarrhea for a week and we finally realized that the neighbor's keep their cat food outside.

Honestly my boys practically NEVER fart, and if they do it isn't noticeable. If they were having persistent gas, I would seriously scrutinize what they were eating and change it.

The one time Gonzo had gas was when I bought a big carton of freeze dried lamb liver treats. Lawdy! The treats were way too expensive to throw away, so I fed them sparingly, and Febrezed his butt when necessary. :p

I switched to raw. Since then the stench that used to emit from his behind has pretty much dissapeared. But he used to have it so bad the gasX wouldn't work. But we would just leave the room.
