My wife and I were friends in high school. We never dated (she actually liked my best friend, Bob). She moved away during our senior year and we lost touch.

Bob joined the Army out of high school and was stationed in Germany. When Iraq invaded Kuwait (back in the early 90's) he was sent to Saudi Arabia as part of Operation Desert Shield (and then Desert Storm). Unknown to me, the future Mrs. Q had moved back into the area and was in touch with Bob. He sent her a post card from Saudi Arabia. Part of the message said, "Eddie has my address, go get it from him". Since I still lived at home at the time, she knew my house and looked me up. She got the address and invited me over to watch the super bowl at her apartment. We started hanging out together and ultimately fell in love. A couple of years later I asked her to marry me. We've been married 13 years and have two daughters, 12 and 7 years old. I have Saddam Husein to thank :p (ok, and Bob, too).

I got Bob back, though. When our oldest was born, I took a second job working as a waiter at an Olive Garden. I sliced my hand pretty badly one night and did some nerve damage. One day while walking with my wife and daughter in the mall we ran into another friend, Jenny. Jenny was friends with another girl that we knew from high school but lost touch with. I asked her if she sees Beth anymore and she said, "Oh, yeah, she works at the walden books over on the boulevard". I commented to Bob a couple of days later that, "Hey, I found out where Beth is. It's right across the street from my hand surgeon. I may stop in and say Hi at my next appointment." Bob went and saw her the next day and took her out for coffee. They've been married almost 10 years now and have 2 kids, one boy (my Godson) and a girl.

We all still get together frequently. Bob and his family, my wife's best and her family (their daughter is my Goddaughter) and our family all take turns hosting a dinner party once a month.

Sorry it's long, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

online back in YahooChat (Gen X) in what 1997-ish? We were part of a clique that all chatted together til the wee hours...for close to a year. Then things changed and we chatted to each other more. Phonecalls, letters, photo exchanges, I love you's.

We met F2F for the first time in 1998.

I was in Cali and he in Texas...I flew out to meet him and everyone but my Mom thought I was nuts...lol. I was 23y/o...we met and figured out the the chemistry was just fine...that was the only thing left to check out.

I moved out there later that same year...
We got married in 2000...

I just got out of a 4.5 year relationship, and my sister was begging me to move into a place with her, so I did. She kept saying how I need to hang out with her friends more, so one night she invited over her 2 guy Friends ( one who had a gf, which she also came over ) and the other guy was her brother. I just kind of sat there with Trixie.

Well, couple of weeks later my sister calls me from work and said the guy who had the gf is going threw a tough time and how we should invite him over. I said okay sure, I will grab some pizza and get a movie.

They come over, and the WHOLE night he was flirting with me. I didn't do anything back as I knew he had a gf ( but he knew it was going to end with her ). So He sleeps in the spare room, and I was in my room and I forgot to thank him for bringing over dessert. So I text him and we kept texting back and forth and of course he was doing MORE flirting.

Anyways, he was suppose to talk to his gf and see where they stood. Later that night my sister gets a call from him ( and I am there CROSSING my fingers wishing they broke up..haha ) and turns out they did.

So we started to hang out more, he took me out on Valentines day. Hung out for about 2 months and we NEVER kissed, we both talked about it, and we both wanted to...but we both were just shy to do it. So after I finally asked him what we were..And then he asked me out, and then we had our first kiss. :)

It was SUPER hard tho, as my sister liked him also, but he didn't like her in that way. So most of the time we needed to "sneak" to see each other. We went threw a lot to go out!!..She would start fights and put us threw lots, but we made it threw..ha ha

I met my hubby through a mutual friend of ours on my 16th birthday. We got married just shy of a year later (no I was not pregnant, we had our first child the same year we celebrated our 5th anniversary). We were just ready. I don't regret a minitue of it. We celebrated our 13th anniversary this past September.

Great stories !!! My meeting Tom wasn't romantic . My brother came down to my college with 2 frat brothers for blind dates . I was fixed up with Stu and found a gal for Tom . Guess Tom was smitten with me as he called me for a date the next weekend . That date lasted almost 52 years !

Which day, might I ask? Our 13th was this past September 10th.

Brendan and I met through work. When I first moved to Virginia I got a job at Red Robin. He was working there as well and we started off just as friends. He was dating another coworker for a short time and when they broke off we kinda hit it off. We both really liked each other, but didn't want to say anything to each other. I'm not sure what his reasonings were, but part of me wasn't sure about dating a coworker and the fact that he was totally different from other guys I'd normally date caused me to hold off as well. He was more on the dorky side then I'd normally see myself with. A bunch of us from work got together and went to a Renaissance festival in Maryland a few years ago. After talking more with Brendan we realized just how much both of were into that time period. He collects swords.... and what do you know... I have my own SMALL collection of them. We talked more and realized more and more stuff we had in common. We both have our different interests but we both love camping, hiking, video games, swords, medieval period, animals, etc.

We started dating quietly. We didn't tell anyone at work because that sort of thing was kind of frowned upon, especially because he was my superior at work for a little while until he stepped down from that position. Finally everyone found out and we stopped only holding hands under the table lol.

It's not the most ROMANTIC story... but we love each other and personally... I really see myself spending the rest of my life with him. =)

My sweetheart of 18 years heard me laughing behind a kitchen door of the ski resort we worked at and said he had to meet that girl. The rest is history. He accepts all critters that I bring home

I met my husband when I was on vacation with a friend. It was over 6 years ago. I had just turned 16 and it was the 4th of July holiday. My friend and I spent the vacation fishing, swimming, tanning and mostly in our bikinis. We met this guy that was my age and met his older brother. My friend was interested in one and I the other. so we talked and found out the guy I liked wasn't single. But we just talked. They watched the fireworks with us. And exchanged email addresses before we left the next day.

Only problem was we lived in Maryland and the guys lived in Pennsylvania. But I didn't let that get to me. I talked to him online until he gave me his address. Then i was writing up to 5 letters a week to him. About 5 months after meeting him he made it a sunday ritual to get up at 6am, drive 2 hours to my house, spend all day with me then leave at dark to go back home and make it to school the next day. We did that for another 6 months. Then we moved to NC together.

aww, I am a soppy romantic.

I'm single - if I don't feel it, I don't feel it. I'm not one of these people who falls in love with every tom dick or harry.

I know what I like, I just don't bump into them very often.

I met Ryan on Showdog.com. I never intended to get involved in a serious relationship and never wanted to get married. I hadn't been looking for a relationship at all, and, if anything, I was avoiding ever having to deal with one. I have no idea why he struck me as absolutely perfect, but he did. I had been playing Showdog, and one day while extremely bored, I realized there was a chat room. The first time I went in, he was in there and had been talking, but wasn't currently active. I don't really remember what happened the second time. We said a few things to each other, but not much. I didn't return after that. To make it nice and short - he sent me messages outside of chat trying to get me to talk to him and visit chat again so we could talk more, eventually he succeeded, and I gave him my AIM screen name. We became aware of each other's existence in spring of 2005, and started to seriously talk in the summer of 2005. I didn't think we'd ever meet, but I still absolutely loved talking to him. Eventually I found out he was in Minnesota, I was currently in Maryland, and would soon be going to Iowa for school (and Iowa is right under Minnesota!). Although I was moving a thousand miles closer, I still never thought we'd meet. Well, I wasn't in Iowa very long, but I did get to meet him. And he was amazing. He claims he asked me if he could kiss me and I said no, lol. I really don't think I did. He kissed me as soon as we saw each other again.

So we went to school together for a little while, I didn't particularly like Minnesota, he liked Maryland, and now we're in Maryland. And I have a ring on my finger.

That's about all for now. :) Maybe he can write his version of the story and we can compare.

I pledged a co-ed fraternity, and was assigned as a "little brother" to my now husband. :p I really thought he was a jerk--but as the weeks went on, I saw how caring he was, and one thing led to another...and now we have been married for 21 years. :D

I've known my fiance Ian since I was 16, and he was 15. He went to my high school, and we worked together as well. We actually started talking because my friend liked him... so she tried to get me to set them up together. He couldn't stand her, and it never ended up working out (and he thought I was annoying for trying, I'm sure!). A year later I gave him my phone number because I had a crush on him, and we went on a date a couple of days later.

It'll be 5 years this February since we've been together :D

Matt and I met in elementary school...but we didn't really start hanging out until middle school..around 7th grade or so...

We were both ice skaters, and we started pairs skating in 8th grade, which continued on throughout high school and into our adult lives...until life got in the way, and I retired...he decided he could never skate with anyone else.

We never really "dated" throughout this whole time...we were just really, really good friends...he had a few girlfriends, and I had a couple boyfriends...we tried the dating thing when we were 24/25, and then again about a year ago...he's my soulmate. And he has been since I met him when I was 10. It just took me a while to realize that he was "the one". :)

He's always there for me, and he puts up with a lot. But he's also not afraid to stand up and tell me when he doesn't like something I do. We can talk about anything and everything. He's my best friend, my lover, my soulmate.

I always thought that it would be wonderful to be married to your best friend - and I am. Even though technically, we're not married.
