Inspired by Samanthas Pet's wedding post:

I don't know if we have had one of these or not but how did you meet your SO?

Brian and I actually met online lol. We met on Yahoo Messenger. I was between jobs and VERY bored one day... and I will admit I have a thing for hockey goalies... lol (I think it comes from growing up with a family full of them so they have always been special to me) So I decided to do a search for members that are goalies. His name came up and showed he was online so I sent him a message just to say hello. I got no response... WHAT a JERK. He could have at least said screw off lol.

Two weeks later I get a random message from a username that kind of looks familiar but I don't know why. It was him. He was away doing "army stuff" for a couple of weeks and even though it showed him as online he actually was not online.... yahoo malfunction.

he was going through an ugly divorce and I had just gotten out of a terrible long term relationship. We were just going to talk online and we didn't expect anything. The more we talked the more we WANTED to talk. So eventually we exchanged phone numbers. We talked on the phone every day.... for hours. it wasn't long before we were really falling for each other. We had never met but our personalities just meshed so well and we always had a great time talking to each other.

We decided to meet. Brian drove all the way up to London Ontario (8+ hour drive) for the July long weekend. I was so nervous and so was he. We talked periodically during his drive and then he finally called to say he was just down the street and would be there soon. I had butterflies in my stomach like you would not believe... I was so excited and nervous all at once. He got out of the car and came in the door and immediately embraced me and then we had our "first kiss" lol. and I knew for sure that I was madly in love with a man I had only just met in person. We spent the long weekend together and it was the best weekend of my life.

3 1/2 years later he is still the love of my life, my husband and the father of our beautiful daughter. I have never looked back :D

Via mutual friends.

I was healing over a long relationship that had ended with a big smack to my face, we started as friends and he was my shoulder for much of that time. We'd spend hours on my friends couch until the wee hours of the morning talking about anything and everything.

At that time, I was a manager at a movie theater and he and my friends would drive down and we'd go see movies together. My parents were there one time and met him.

That night when I got home my dad cornered me in our computer room and demanded that I tell him everything about this young man and that I bring him around more often.. or else. :p

And that is that. That wonderful young man is the love of my life, my best friend, my soul mate- the one and only. :)

Awwwwww! That is sooo sweet. I am going to love this thread.

Danny told me that when he saw me the first time he had this weird feeling that he was going to spend the rest of his life w/ me which is totally weird for him. He is not at all a romantic (until me;)) I would normally not believe that coming from him but one day I randomly asked to read something about me from his journal (he keeps it on his comp.). He pulled it up right infront of me and let me read all the parts about me. He showed an entry from right after I started working there. It was consistant w/ what he said. He had NO chance to edit anything. I just randomly asked one day and he pulled it up right there. He just blew off the feeling when he found out I had a boyfriend and I was pentecostal. his last girlfriend was religious and he is an athiest. that caused problems. I actually havent believed in god since I was 14 but i dont tell many people and i still lived w/ my parents and they made me go to church when i met him and i mentioned something about going to church to him.

I was transfering to a different radioshack and that night I broke up w/ my boyfriend religion had come up and I told him I didnt believe in god (that also happened to be my LAST night to work there. I was transferring the next day). He got quiet and i thought I had offended him since i didnt know he was an athiest and we live in the bible belt so i assume most people are christians. Turns out he got quiet b/c his only 2 reasons for never asking me out were my boyfriend and my religion. Now, suddenly on my LAST time to ever see him both of those reasons were nonexistant. It was CRAZY. I also read all about that night in his journal (along w/ some naughty dreams he had about me! :yikes:)

Sadly I've yet to meet mine. The girls I often end up with bug the hell out of me and we break up a couple of weeks later and the girls I fall for already have boyfriends or are too deep into the 'friend zone'.

But, hopefully, someday I'll find the girl for me. Maybe I should start an application process.

BUT I just found out today that a friend of mine is getting married, and they met at church.

Needless to say they'll be getting married in that same church.

Match.com. He was the last person to contact me before my membership ran out. I had met and dated a lot of people and had a lot of fun and crazy stories. So, when he "winked" at me, I wrote back and said, "I'm blowing this joint. Here's my phone number. Let's skip the computer pleasantries and meet right away."

A year and a half later, we spent all night tonight talking about him coming home with me for Christmas and meeting the whole family. He's asleep in the bed next to me right now with McGee all curled up.

Ah, that reminds me. I can't stand a girl who won't have a little fun every once in a while. Just random, spur of the moment type stuff. Like one girlfriend I got tired of was very boring. I like to do random stuff and we were out walking one night and the sprinklers came on around campus. There's a great alley area of grass and the sprinklers were making an arch type thing (spraying at each other from both sides) so I wanted to run through it. She didn't. No amount of coaxing would get her to run through it. Boring.

I've mentioned this before..somewhere...but my sister was dating his brother. one Sat. I was just hanging out with them, and we went to his house. it's a big family, and it was always the fun place to be. in walked Dave...all grubby cause he worked at a gas station. Renee won't like it if I say he was YUMMY, so I will say he was DELICIOUS. lol

Sunday is our anniversary...36 years of sheer bliss. :) my sis was married to his brother for a few years, but the real match was us. those years were so much fun, tho...we were such a foursome. anyway...I'm getting a sign to hang that says, 'I will Love you until the day after forever'. pretty much says it all. he is AMAZING. he is the BEST. and yes...I could get sappy about him forever. LOL

and we expect to be kept updated on this situation :p

the closest thing to a story i have is one guy i dated DID understand that i liked doing out of the ordinary things instead of typical dinner and movie. or dinner and walk around the mall or anything like that. anyway he got me up EARLY *which is a miracle for me* got me in his car drove me two hours BLIND FOLDED. when we got there he kept me blindfolded and i could hear a ton of people. anyway he walked me for about 3 minutes put a cup in my hand and walked me into an area and unblindfolded me and i was at the oklahoma city zoo feeding lorikeets. it was amazing :D he definitely won in the date department lol

My best friend at the time is John's cousin. One day I was talking to my friend online, and he sent me an IM address and said "here, add this guy". Before I could ask him any questions, he got offline. So, out of curiousity, I added the guy. John and I started talking that day. Every day for 5 days we talked online, most days for hours... until well into the early morning hours.
5 days later, my friend invited me to go see a movie with him and one of his other friends... and John. I almost didn't go, but in the end decided to go. John bugged me all through the movie... poking me and just being generally annoying. After the movie, we talked in the parking lot for about an hour after our friends left. Then, we said goodbye, went home, and talked online the rest of the night.
That was September 27, 2005 and we've been together ever since.

I met my wife through a dating service 15 years ago. I was in the dating service for several months without any luck and I was about to give up. Then I met my wife to be. She was 37 at the time and she just joined the dating service for the very first time. A coworker of hers kept pushing her to join a dating service. The coworker said "You're not going to meet anyone sitting on the couch". The dating service advertised a 2 for 1 membership. My wife joined with her sister. I was the second guy that she met through the dating service. You never know when Mr.(or Mrs. Right) will come around the corner.

SummerRiot and I met on Lavalife.
I had been a member for about two weeks, she'd joined and the day she did she messaged me, because I had dogs in the picture with me.

Basically if it wasn't for dogs we'd never have met... if it wasn't for mine she'd probably have skipped right past me... and when I first got there Riot ran right up very friendly to me, which he'd apparently never done to anybody before! Which is apparently the first sign that I was the one for her :)
Lol thank goodness I met Riots approval :p

I'm sure I've posted this before, but here's my story on how I met TJ. I was 17 years old and had left high school... didn't officially quit, but just left. I had been going to high school in New Hampshire and went and stayed with my parents in Massachusetts.

I got to thinking that I really needed to go back and finish up my last semester in high school so I could actually gradutate and get my diploma. But I had no where to live..... so I started searching for a roommate. I'd make weekly trips up there and check out the local ads in the papers..etc. I went and looked at a few places and none of them seemed "right" for me.

I was on my way back from a ski trip one wednesday night and a friend of mine was telling me about this "older" guy who was looking for a roommate. It sparked my interest so I asked her to introduce us and that night when we got back to town she took me over there and we met. He kept staring at my chest right through my ski jacket. I was thinking he was the biggest pervert but I was desperate for a roommate and nothing was going to be my dream place. So, I decided I'd be his roommate if he wanted me there.

The next thing I know he hands me a set of keys and asked me how soon I could move in. I ended up moving in 3 days later. He had a welcoming party for me that night. The rest I can't tell you about....lol

But it's been almost 19 years now and we're still together, despite EVERYONE we knew said we'd never last.

The summer of 1985 I decided that NJ held nothing for me anymore & I decided to move to Colorado. My distant cousin lived outside of Boulder & let me stay with her while I found a job & got my feet on the ground. She had a wonderful little farmette & I stayed in this cute little building that had NO screens on the windows.
My childhood best friend told me to look up her boyfriend who was living there for the summer. Well I called Larry & he introduced me to all his roommates. I ended up spending a lot of time at his home seeking refuge from the mosquitoes @ my cousin's farmette. One night I was just hanging out watching TV @ Larry's house & in walks this tall drink of water with gorgeous eyes. He had just left Ohio for the same reason I left Jersey. 3 days later we went on a "date". We've been constant friends since. Come June, we'll celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary.
