If it was up to them would they b e off doing their own thing or sitting on top of you? Are you ok with their level of neediness?

Bandit is SUPER needy. He is getting worse as he gets older. He currently is sitting behind me on a chair at the computer. This morning he was under the blankets with me in bed instead of eating breakfast. These pictures are not uncommon. The only time he isn't right beside me is when we are out on a walk. Then he does his own thing while checking in.

Sitting on top of me

Head resting on my shoulder

Arya is not that clingy. She doesn't even want to come up on the furniture. She just lays in her crate or in Bandit's dog bed he never uses. I am perfectly alright with her not being all over me because I don't think I could handle the two of them being that intense. I don't mind Bandit though. He's special. Any other living being did that to me I'd be so irritated. But him? Well... I love him too much to care.

How we sleep

How we do my hair

How we chill on the couch

Traveler likes to be with me at all times. He'll sometimes go lay with someone else or sleep on the floor but more times than not he's with me, touching somehow. I like clingy though so it works really well for us.

Any visit to any room is complete with a Traveler and we're just recently getting the idea that when I'm in the bathroom he doesn't STILL need to be on my lap, next to me will work.

Didgie is also always right there with me. She tends to like to be touching too but isn't as rabid about it as Traveler

It's pretty common for me to have one on each side of me.

Fergus so far is clingy in the sense that more times than not he's in the same room as me (but half of that is because of the other dogs) but he doesn't need to be touching. Most times he's on the floor so far, be interested to see if/how that changes.

Both Cynder and Abrams have to be in the room with their person. Typically they follow me around from room to room and lay at my feet/within sight of me. If Abrams bothers Cynder and Michael is home, she'll go lay by him and Abrams will lay by me.

Both dogs have their moments where they want to lay on the couch and cuddle, but they're typically happy to just be near. Abrams often likes to be slightly touching when he's chewing on a bone or somewhat, and he also follows everyone into the bathroom because he doesn't want to be left out. Lol

They're the right kind of clingy. I like shadows, but I would hate it if I had a dog that wanted to constantly touch me.

Okay, so basically you could switch those pictures of Linds and Traveler out for me and Feist and that's how we roll haha.

Oh man, Traveler is so cute. How do you function around him??

Finn follows me from room to room, but I wouldn't call him touchy. He'll occasionally put his head on my lap if I'm sitting at my desk, but most of the time he's not touching, just near me. He normally sleeps on his dog bed on the floor, but when he does sleep with me, he's at the foot of the bed, not touching me.

What is this? Didgie does the same thing, she loves to lay on top of me when she's chewing a bone. Which, not fun.
I have no idea! It is really annoying. He used to want to lay directly on top of someone when he chewed on a bone. Now he's satisfied laying on a foot or resting his head in your lap while slobbering all over you.

Kimma likes me to HOLD whatever it is she's chewing. So it gets shoved in my hands more often than not LOL. I actually put her in another room while she has a RMB because no.

They are independently dependent. If I'm sitting then everyone but Kimma wants to be touching me/be pet. Kimma will sometimes lay with me (but not touching) if she's really tired. She lays on top of DH all the time though. If I'm standing/walking around they prefer to be in the same room, but the living area in our house is also pretty open concept so they usually are in the same room as I am regardless. Bathroom time means Jari has to follow me. Kimma does on occasion, too. At bed time Kimma curls up at my feet. That's as cuddly as she gets, generally.

The hallway to the bedrooms/full bath is baby gated, so when I go to take a shower or go in to the bedroom area, most of the time I will come out to find them all laying around the baby gate waiting for me.

I think Leo is the perfect amount of clingy/gives me space. He will mostly follow me from room to room and is SUPER excited to see me when I come back from somewhere (even if I was only out for a few minutes). He likes to lay next to me, and yes touch me. But....he does not need to do any of those things. I can close the door to my room and he is happy to hang out with my roommate instead. If I am being super boring (aka... now, staying in one spot on my computer and not letting him cuddle me) he might even ditch me for my roommate and go there instead if she is willing to pet/play with him. But the second I am up and moving, he will come over to check it out.

Basically, he likes to be near me but he does not have to be touching me all the time, so it works really well for us. I like to have him close, but he never annoys me by needing to be too close

Edit: I literally just posted this, and now Leo is sitting outside my door whining because he wants in. I swear he just wants to prove me wrong :p

Love how independent my dogs are. They like to do things with me. They greet me with enthusiasm when I come home. But they do not insist on being in constant contact with me. Summit doesn't even spend most of his time in the same room as us. Kili likes to be up on the couch next to me, but not necessarily touching. They don't try to "self-pet" (that bugs me so much when dogs do that) or follow me incessantly from room to room. Kili used to cry and paw the bathroom door anytime I went in there but she has now realized there is no magical portal in there.

Ripley is ridiculously clingy. He wants to be touching at all times. Leaning. Pushing. Shoving himself into you so hard that he shakes just in case you couldn't see him right there. He stuffs his face right in yours to see him better. He rubs himself on outstretched limbs if you don't put in an effort to pet him. It never ends. And I cannot stand pushy, shovey behavior and he doesn't get away with it, but that doesn't stop him from trying.

Keira likes to be close and touching, and will shove her head hard enough that she trembles on some people, but not with me. She isn't nearly as obsessive as zripley though. Ripley is borderline neurotic about it honestly. Keira is just normal Dober level of velcro.

Dance is not clingy at all. She likes to be in the same room so she knows you're there, but doesn't care for affection all that much. In fact, sometimes she gives you a super dirty look if you pet her while she is sleeping haha. She has to be exhausted to be clingy and cuddly. She is pretty independent that way. She comes to see everyone for a few pets each day, but mostly just hangs out and observes or wants to play vs. be affectionate.

Journey is my constant shadow. She loves to cuddle and be close, but she's also just as happy to lay at my feet. She likes to be near, but doesn't force affection. Sometimes she'll gently lean in for some petting, but she isn't super needy about it. She is my ideal level of affectionate and definitely what I would call Velcro, but she just isn't extreme or rude about it.

Kind of, in his own way. He doesn't like to cuddle or even particularly be touched a lot but God forbid I'm over in the next room and he can SEE me or hear me but can't get to me. He will start barking. He basically wants to be NEAR me at all times but he's not the kind of dog that needs to be leaning on me, or in the bathroom with me, etc.

My dogs are generally the perfect level of clingy for me. They like to be in the room with me. They like to snuggle on the bed or couch, and often find their way into my lap if I'm in a recliner. If I'm at the table or computer, they are generally just close.

I'd be lost with a really independent dog.

Basically this with a little more attention seeking behavior, Merlin does tend to the whole BUTT WIGGLE OH GOD PLEASE PET ME dance around me if he wants attention lol

and while I sometimes am like "jesus Merlin get a life.." as he sits patiently outside the bathroom door as I shower, most of the time I really love having a goobery boy who loves my attention more than anything else lol

This is how mine are and I love it. Walter loves to be the little spoon on the couch when I invite him, but for the most part they just chill on their own. Occasionally I get followed, but they'll go back to a bed or couch when they see what I'm doing has nothing to do with them. Sometimes I feel like I don't even have dogs, but then it's super weird when they aren't here and I realize just how wonderful their calm, quiet presence is.

Buster is clingy if you have food.. especially when I have food because he knows I am a sucker. Rudy isn't really clingy. Dixie is really clingy if you're laying on the couch she thinks it's perfect to lay on top of you. And she isn't light! :p

With my cats Miagi is seriously Buster in cat form. If I have food he will be there lol. Tiger is really clingy because he's my buddy. Angel just plain likes me since I raised her so she just has to be everywhere I am. ;)
