how can she tell me?

how do i get pippin to let me know when she wants to go out. she is fine when the door is open, she will go out to do her business, but, when the door is closed she does it anywhere in the house. is this just something she will learn as she gets older?

I think one of the best ways to do this is to teach her to ring a bell.

It's pretty simple--hang a bell up by whatever door you want to use, and everytime you take her outside, take her paw and hit the bell with it. Most dogs catch on pretty quickly...I've only had a bell for about a week, and now when I bring Lucy to the door to go outside, she either pushes the bell with her nose or hits it with her paw. We're not really at the point we're she'll use it to let me know she has to go out, there have been a few times though where she rings it and when we go outside, she goes potty.
