i have a rhodesian ridgeback cross boxer he is nearly 11 months and he still looks skinny. you can see his spine and is not as big as some rr and boxers.

well when we got him he was very skinny and we could see his ribs he has slowly started to get bigger but not that much

i feed him biscuits, meat, mince and pasta everyday 2 times a day. and he still isnt fatten up.
any clues anyone????

I wouldn't do anything that increases weight too quickly or too drastically. It's not healthy and the best foundation for a long, healthy life is to keep puppies lean and have them grow at a slow even rate. Once he's more mature, he'll fill out too.

See this study:

The most important thing is that you don't just feed him nilly-willy whatever looks good, you need to meet critical nutrient requirements and feed everything in a proper balance.

Also, you might want to have him checked out by the vet for any parasites or something that might be stopping him from gaining weight.

I agree with Mordy. I personally would rather have my puppy a bit on the skinny side instead of overweight.

If you do want to put a little weight on him (only a little... overfeeding him and making him overweight will do him much more harm than letting him be a bit on the thin side) Satin balls are awesome and work quite well. Just be very careful when feeding it. Only give a small amount and keep an eye on his weight. If fed in large amounts it will put weight on him quickly but IMO this is not what you want to do. Rapid weight gain is stressful on puppies' bodies.

I am the owner of two Ridgebacks. One got very sick last year and I had to put some weight on her. Couple of questions, how is her stool? What kind of food is she feed? Is she vomitting? If no, I would get her thyroid tested and her pancreas. It might be over active. Rodersians are suppose to be lean. How much does the dog weight? Both my girls are about 72lbs. The one dropped to 50lbs after a mystery disease. Anyways I gave her boiled chicken and homemade meatballs with rice and oatmeal in it. If she is eating kibble, I would give her the lean ground meatballs with rice and oatmeal in them. Use brown rice. Give this once a day. It put weight on my dog. Is she eating ok?

This should be a new thread in the food forum. You'll get more responses.

If a dog is vomiting and has diarrhea, brown rice isn't a good idea. In such a situation you'll first want to fast the dog until things have calmed down and then slowly start with foods that are highly and easily digestible and only contain small amounts of indigestible fiber.
