I think you need to take some of the advice with less of an attitude.

I was also recently having a hard time training a dog and turned to this site for ideas. RedyreRottweilers list was probably one of the most helpful and the one we follow. And I didnt think the last idea on the list was smug, but rather the truth. And although, we dont literally hit ourselves over the head if we find a mess now, we do say it is our fault and we move on.

After following all this advice, my puppy is learning. And we have been having very good days. All dogs are different, just because you trained other dogs doesnt mean you arent doing something wrong. We also had another dog, who trained much easier.

Just attempt to take the advice people give you.

Good Luck with your dog.

It may be the way I'm reading it, but to me it sounds like some people giving the advice have the attitude, a few bordering on rude (not everyone of course). I'm a fairly new pet owner, and frankly I'm really suprised at the level of hostility that exists among pet owners. It's fairly muted on this forum, but it does show itself. You would think the pet world would be friendly given how cute our furry friends are, but I guess human nature always shines though.

I think if you read through all the threads, where people ask for help others are willing to give it in a friendly fashion. However, I know I especially get upset when people give up so easily on their pets or say "im going to punt the furball" I know it is a "joke" but its not all that funny.
Also people dont want to take responsibility for what goes wrong, you cant lay responsibilty on a dog, even though many of us make them part of the family when it comes down to it they are DOGS, they cant be rationalized with.
Just the way I see it. Possibly theres fault on both ends.

I'm new to this thread, but I also had a difficult time with my unneutered dog when I introduced another animal into the family. Although I anticipated this behavior, it quickly became frustrating. I found a lady that sales these things called "dog wraps" on Ebay, and using one of these wraps, I was able to regain my sanity and save my furniture.

I put the wrap on my dog when he either didn't "go" really well outside or I was leaving the house (the dog was older and had never been crate trained). I took the wrap off of him when I could supervise him and was able to make progress without having to constantly deal with the problem of feeling trapped by my dog's urinary decisions. The wrap is made of fleece and velcros around his waist to cover his private area. With this, I was able to work with my dog and not feel trapped and frustrated with his peeing problem. If he peed in the wrap, I just washed it; however, he only peed in the wrap a couple of times. Eventually, I could trust him with my floors and furniture again.

This isn't a permanent or quick solution but may offer some temporary relief for a frustrating situation! Here is the address to the Ebay store where I purchased mine.... http://stores.ebay.com/A-Dogs-Paradise
