So Tyler and I are starting early and planning our honeymoon. I have done some traveling and Tyler has not.

We are not the normal go to mexico and sit on a beach and do really touristy things. We can do that on any vacation.

We more want to go on an adventure, maybe back packing and stay in some exotic areas, discover different culture and environments.

But honestly, I have no idea where to start so I want some first hand experience.

Thanks friends :)

I am of no help... I went to Bora Bora with family and decided that's where I'd spend my honeymoon but then again... I am a beach and spa and sip fruity drinks person LOL

As for adventures, my trip to Costa Rica was the most adventurous and fun in the way you seem to be describing. There is so much to do...forrest exploring, zip lining, scuba diving, hiking, paragliding, I even got surfing lessons while my brothers went on a great tour all about new really cool foods. I even jumped a waterfall!

My brothers did the forrest camping and said it was amazing but I stayed in the hotel lol so no first hand experience there.

Plus the lemurs are really cute.

We went on a 20 day trip to New Zealand!

I would recommend it to anyone! We flew into the north island, rented a car and drove throughout both islands, stopping at various cities and parks- did some bar hopping and hiking. We camped for 7 nights and stayed in hotels for 9. Totally fun, relaxing and adventurous!

I've never been, but I was going to mention Costa Rica in terms of hiking, camping, etc.

We did a "tourist" thing for ours. We went to Williamsburg and did all of the tours, went to Bush Gardens, shopped, etc. But we like that kind of stuff.

Now my ideal vacation is the sit on a beach and relax. But I'm an old fart at this point.

Indonesia!

Because I want to go :D

You can do everything - exotic, plush and luxurious, and also hiking, backpacking, hosteling.

It's on my to do list, and it reckon once you start researching it,you will want to go too. :D

My cousin backpacked through Europe for her honeymoon. No idea where or how, but she LOVED it.

Another vote for Costa Rica!

I wasn't there for a vacation, but for a church mission trip ministering to the Guaymi Indians. I loved every single minute of it. It is such a beautiful country! We were in the mountains (San Vito), which was about a 6 hour bus ride from San Jose (where we flew into).

We got to see a bit of everything. The mountains and the coast... absolutely breathtaking! I was planning on going back this June, but it just didn't work out. But hopefully next year! :D

However, if you are planning on going in August... beware it is the rainy season and it will rain every single day. And not just normal rain either, extremely hard rain. Then again that might have been the region of Costa Rica we were in!

Pictures from where we were!

Hopefully your room and showers would be better than what ours were though :p

New Zealand would be amazing! That's on the top of my bucket list.

Maybe Iceland? Not a very typical destination, but everyone I know who has been there LOVED IT. It's supposed to be so amazing and stunning!

eta: Three of my close friends have been to Switzerland fairly recently (one about 4 years ago, the others this year) and they have all adored it. One is a competitive biker and very well traveled (Hawaii, California, Colorado, BC, Germany, France maybe etc) and said that Switzerland is his favorite place he's been.

I am no help at all lol. We went to a diner and a hockey game on our wedding night lol.

If I couldn't do my usual favorite thing.... our next favorite thing would be going to cottage country. campfires, fishing, hikes, fresh air, swimming in the lake, etc.

We had our honeymoon over Christmas, so we rented a cabin in the mountains for a week. It was so nice and relaxing.

We went to Ireland a few months later, though, once the weather was warmer :) It was an amazing trip!

I'd also recommend Costa Rica, since it's so different from your part of the world. It was one of my favorite trips.

I love adventurous traveling, but I'm definitely a B&B/hotel kinda girl :p During the day I'm adventurous, but at night I like snuggling up in a comfy bed and having a warm shower!

Lubbers Landing in the Abacos, because nothing says "adventure" like navigating a boat for the first time, in the middle of a rain storm and trying not to hit the big yachts
