So, I want to know, but I don't want to know....

My neighbor just moved in a few months ago, with his 10+ dogs (when he moved in he said he had 10, but I think they recently had a litter of puppies). I spoke to him briefly when he first moved in, and he said he does hog hunting; he said most of the dogs are pit bull mixes and hound mixes. He told me that he does hog hunting with them.

Today, we heard a pig squealing from his property, and my friend said she saw a small pig.

So my question is, why would a hog hunter have a small pig on his property with 10+ hog dogs?

Training puppies? I don't imagine it's particularly good to throw a grown, inexperienced dog out into the bush to chase down a hog which may or may not have cutters and in any case is quite capable of damaging a dog. I know if I were raising puppies to catch and/or bay hogs I would want them catching and/or baying hogs from the day their eyes opened.

Training. They often guage a dog's interest with a caged hog. He could be laying tracks, or maybe he just trapped one an hasn't had a chance to kill it yet.
