When my sheltie was a puppy I took him out on a leash to go potty even tho the backyard is fenced...I got my Golden pup today and I was taking her out on a leash and she was scurring all over trying to find the right spot and it hit me, she's not leash broke yet and if she pulls on the leash to go potty than I am training her to pull when we go for walks...

So I decided to take her out loose...Whats your opinion???....

Depends where you live . I never had to potty train on leash . Young puppies don't like collars and leashes

Kara's been on a leash since the day she's come home. She got used to it very quicky.

I once house sat a German Shepherd who, when I'd take her for a walk, would jump up at the leash to bite it...I rationalized she was that way b/c she 1) Was always off leash in the house and wasn't used to it (and probably was only taken out to pee and poop) and 2) Never went to puppy obedience.
