I was very curious when I looked at these Border Collies, and the guy had a site. IMO These dogs aren't even purebred.. Whats your opinion?

http://sandersbordercollies.com/index.html

It got me wondering... Says nothing about showing them. I read the newspapers my grandma gets. Some articles. And then I go back into the ads. This one happens to bother me.. Thank you for reading!

Sadly, this person is a BYB.

Says nothing about showing them
This is a good thing. If you search a bit about the breed you will find out that show BC breeders are breeding for looks over health and what they were origianlly bred to do. Their coats are usaully 100 times bigger than that of a working bred BC.

Or as they say in the business, "Just coat and bone. Nothing else."

If you're referring to the Uherdit studs then I agree, a couple of them look like something else was mixed in somewhere.

I've heard that some Border Collie lines have Heeler/Cattle Dog mixed in to build better frames for cattle herding, but I'm not sure if that is just a rumor.

There's no such thing as a "short haired border collie". You have either a rough coat(think RD's Dakota) or smooth coat(RD's Eve).

Smooth coated BC's are in a sense short haired.

P.S.
I really hate byb's. I wish that there was a way to put them all out of business!

Red Merle Border Collies??? Errr, how about an Aussie for that first male.

If he at least listed what his supposed working dogs work I would be much happier... but alas, they seem like cool mixes.

The uherdit ones look like some of the working BC I know of. And yes that coat is just fine in the breed, no they don't look crossed with anything to me, seen lots that have that shape that are pure BC for oodles of generations. I have known quite a few with hair a lot shorter than the lovely Eve, and were all BC.

And yes BC come in merle, no they are not crossed with Aussies to get that colour, it is naturally occuring in the breed. The working BC is kinda like the working JRT there is a fair amount of diversity in type, while still being correct. This is why so many people here in Can fought to keep (and recently failed) the BC out of the Canadian Kennel Club. The cookie cutter look of dog isn't the goal of the working breeder, as sound structurally sound dog that can work, is.

http://www.bordercollie.org/kpwhere.html is a really interesting read.
http://www.canadianbordercollies.org/studs.htm are some of the working BC stud dogs standing in canada, there is great diversity of type, but all are proven working dogs (with the titles etc to prove it) And if you check out some of the websites, there are some very different types out there

Ya I'd expect a Border Collie to work rather than show. Since they are very intelligent and entergetic. And now I know there is no such thing as a Short haired Border Collie. But the sad thing is. He has bred the Border Collie for 40 years. :( I think thats how long he said.

Exactly Dekka. That is why we are fighting to keep the working BC lines strong, and to keep the AKC out of it here too.

The smooth coat is definitely characteristic of the breed. I understand that.

But I do agree with people that say some of the working lines have been outcrossed to build stronger dogs more suited to herding cattle.
