Hints on enlarging photos?

I have a picture I'd love to use as wall art in our living room, but I'm not sure how big I can make it without causing problems with the picture itself.

The original pic is 2048 by 1536 (and 1.4MB) - any idea how big that is in inches? Any idea how to determine the max size it should be made?

How far are you going to stand away from it?

For "photographic" quality, you'll be limited to 4x6 or so, but that means that it wont be pixelated at close viewing angles. You could do a billboard with it if you were willing to stand a football field away.
