Hi everybody!

I found this site on my own, and have been looking around for another forum to join. I'm definitely looking for a place that's a little more breeder-friendly (of course, breeders that show, title, health test, OFA, CERF, genetic test, etc.).

Here in the next year, I plan on adding a samoyed puppy to my family. He will be a show prospect, and I'm in the process of feeling out things like herding and agility and maybe weight pull.

They're such a versatile breed...just a total package for me. Then again, that's why there are a million different types of dogs! :)

I've attended my first specialty in Ohio, and really enjoyed myself. The sam club there is full of great people and great breeders, and I feel really lucky to have met some of the people I've met.

In current life, my BF and I have a rescue dog who has some nervous fear issues, which we are working on. I may have some questions here and there, because my experience is as a dog handler, not a dog trainer.

I hope to gain friends here, and people that I can bounce questions from. I'm kind of a very knowlegeble novice, if that makes sense. I have the book smarts, but not a whole lot of experience.

Anyway, I'm glad I found this site. I hope you all are as friendly as what I've seen. That will be a pleasant change from the first forum I found if so, and one that I look forward to.

Hi, welcome to Chaz! Glad to hear you want to be a responsible breeder, with all the health testing and titles. That's great! There's many great breeders here, and I'm sure you'll pick up tons of information from them!

Welcome! I'm glad to hear you plan on being a responsible breeder, I love when breeders work their dogs even if they show as well, it really shows that your dogs are the full package.

Can't wait until you get your pup, make sure to post lots of pictures!! I'd love to hear more about your current dog, what breed mix do you think she is?

Thanks everybody!

I appreciate the warm greeting. It's really nice!

FYI- I don't want to be a breeder. Ever. LOL! That's better left to people who have more money then I do! I'm just going with a puppy from an excellent breeder, who I can show and title and such.

Right now I'm in the research stage of getting a puppy, and am "stalking" down breeders that have dogs that I like. :)

I went to a specialty, and it's really important to me to find a samoyed breeder that both shows and works their dogs. I've found one that I really, really like, but I'm in school right now, and I want to wait until I have a good job to get a puppy. That should be in a year or so.

Our current dog is a pit bull mix of some kind, that has some extensive fear issues. She's a cute girl, and more my boyfriend's dog then my dog. He got her several years ago as a rescue when she was 6 months old, and she's always had fear issues from the day she was brought home.

We have to be somewhat careful where we take her, because she's deathly afraid of children and will go to great lengths to avoid them, and is very nervous around other dogs if there are too many other dogs. She also has very strong separation anxiety and a bit of food aggression.

She's 6, so we try to socialize her gently so that she doesn't get over whelmed. To be honest, I'm sort of entertaining the fact that this is just her personality.

I don't want to sound like she's all bad- she's really not. If she's around adult people that she knows very well, she's a cool dog. :)

Anyway, thanks gain for the greetings!!!!

Glad to see you and to hear of your well thought out plans :) Weight pull can be a lot of fun and great exercise for your dogs. I have a little APBT and a Fila Brasiliero bitch who are beginning to participate some.

You're right. That may be an integral part of your dog's personality. The best thing you can do for a fearful dog is to find things to do that boost her confidence level, in herself and in you :)

Welcome!!

I'm new to this forum too and am also considering a samoyed. I'm actually in almost the same situation, waiting to finish school and get my job going before I can get a dog. Good luck to you on your pupppy hunt!
