I'm new to the site. I just got a puppy about a week ago, and she is just wonderful. I've never had a dog before, but my husband has. We are working on potty training and crate training right now. She doesn't like her crate yet, but we are working on that. I know that before I got her, she was constantly locked in a crate with her mother and siblings, so I can see why she has problems with it. Our potty training has been going well until yesterday when she had three accidents in the house: once when she was frightened by a loud noise, once when she was first let out of the crate, and once about thirty seconds before I had the leash on her to let her out for her walk. Hopefully that was not a sign that things aren't going as well as I would imagine but just a bad day for her.

We are dog-sitting my father-in-law's dog for a few weeks as well, and this dog doesn't like my puppy very much. Jena, the puppy, tries to be friendly, but the other dog isn't very keen on her.

So excited I found this site! I have already read a lot of helpful tips on training, and I am excited to try some of your suggestions.

Hello

Hello and welcome to Chazhounds, I'm fairly new here myself , but that won't stop me from welcoming you. As for the crate training just stick with it. For our lifestyle it was the best decision. We have two corgi's and both are crate trained, all we have to tell them to go "night-night" and they jump right in their crates. We had a few accidents in the beginning but they were very few. Now they will get in their crates without us even telling them. I think it's their security blanket. If you have any questions at all don't hesitate to contact me. Again welcome, and good luck with your new puppy.
